On Saturday afternoon, 07/20/19, my brother-in-law Josh lost his battle with mental illness and took his own life to finally stop the pain. Few knew of his internal struggles. The Josh most people knew was the friendly guy who would talk to anyone and everyone and who lit up a room with his laugh and smile. Few knew of his internal struggles. The Josh most people knew was the friendly guy who would talk to anyone and everyone and who lit up a room with his laugh and smile. Josh built a life in Tucson over the past 14 years with his wife Kelly and their cherished daughter Isabel. Five years ago, he found his dream job; he loved what he did for a living, finding both purpose and friendship through his company. He loved to always be learning something new and was a gifted teacher of his knowledge. He never missed an opportunity to help someone out.He loved his dogs, Ginger and Hazel. He loved cars and hunting. He found comfort and peace with horses, and collected boots. He lived for music. He loved his beautiful home and enjoyed making home improvements. He loved adventure - traveling, hiking, exploring new places and meeting new people, and could not resist a good ghost tour. But most of all he loved Kelly and Isabel; they were his world, his pride and joy, and his safe haven. Josh was a husband and father, but also a beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, confidant, and friend. He is survived by his wife and daughter; his mother Lisa and step-dad Gary; his dad Kiven; his brother Richard and Corey; many relatives, old friends, new friends, and a community of people who knew and loved him. Josh, you are loved and you are painfully missed.
The family is opting for a small, intimate family gathering to celebrate Josh's life. However, please join us at 8:45pm (Arizona time) on Friday, July 26th for a moment of silent remembrance. We will light candles and invite you to do the same so that, far and wide, those who knew and loved Josh will all join together to honor his memory.

I had the pleasure of working with him for long days over numerous weeks. He was always ready to learn, help, and become more and more self-sufficient for the task at hand. He was the type of a responsible, dedicated, hard worker that you don't often find. On a personal level, it was a joy to hear him singing away as he worked and to share the laughs, struggles and victories that are discussed and experienced while working together. I will not forget Josh, will miss him much, and know the magnitude of the absence he leaves as I feel it even from thousands of miles away and several years removed from working with him. less

I had known his sister in law Emily and his wife Kelly previously by working with them at another Target location. Then I went over to the Target Josh worked to start a new adventure as a brand new leader. It was awesome knowing that I’d have a connection at this new location I’d be working at! Throughout my time working with Josh he would always make me laugh. When I was worried or stressed out about the job or how I was doing I’d go to him for some advice and some laughs. I will never forget the support and kindness he showed me. He was known there for his charisma, great leadership and hard work. Wow was he blessed with a beautiful wife and beautiful daughter. This world was better because of him. I pray comfort during this time for his entire family and all who cared for him deeply. less

Josh was the most charismatic person I’ve ever known! His presence was magnetic, kind, smart, helpful, and strong. His laugh, and the way it took over his whole being was a delight that I will think about every time I remember him! ❤️
My daughter Abi Santmyer is friends with Kelly and Josh. Just wanted y’all to know how sorry I am for your loss and will keep praying for the God of all Comfort to hold you near His tremendous heart of love.

We spoke often about life and its challenges, making sure to always point out how proud I (we) were of him. We built a good friendship over time and knew we could be honest with each other, no judgement ever passed. His loss is a tremendous loss, his pain is our pain. I will miss him forever. less

He had shared some of troubles he had before he started the job and was happy to move forward in life. Josh worked hard throughout the years we worked together and I saw him promote and grow with the company. He eventually left for bigger and better opportunities but left his footprint in the lives of those he touched there. I will never forget his friendly face and hilarious jokes. I had the pleasure of working with his wife Kelly also who is a wonderful and strong human being. I am so sorry to hear of the loss for Kelly, Isabel, and family. I pray they will heal in time. My prayers are with you. less

He told me that one day he decided to just stop being angry all the time because of where it was leading him. There was a time when my anger helped to nearly end my marriage. Remembering what he had said and seeing the example he had set was a large part of what lead me away from that. less

Josh was the kind of person anyone would want to have on your team and representing your company. He was committed to doing the job right, doing it safely and demonstrated professionalism and integrity. We spent hours together at mining facilities and built up a great friendship too. Kelly is an amazing woman and I knew that the moment we met for dinner at El Coral that I would need her blessing in what we were about to embark on. I know Kelly & Josh appreciated my sense of humor when the waiter unveiled the hard hat beneath the cloche (silver cover). We had a lot of laughs yet shared in the struggle of what it means to be a good father, a good husband. I loved sending Kelly & Josh to see Switchfoot in concert, giving him a day off to spend with Isabel. Josh had a way of making everyone around him feel loved. He was instrumental to our growth as a company at Total Power, Inc. Going to miss him terribly. #Copythatless
