With heavy hearts we announce the passing of William Allen Coffman. On June 18, 2020 he passed in peace with his wife and sons at his side after a strenuous battle with cancer.
Born August 7th 1956 in Cleveland Ohio. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart Kathleen Mildred Yoders on December 20, 1975 in Aurora Ohio at the age of 19. He went on to serve in the United States Army for five years before moving his family to Florida to begin his years as a part of the JM Family corporation.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen and his sons Bill ( Jodie, Billy, and Julia), Matthew (Jessica, Josiah, Madalyn, Matthew, and Miles), and Andrew (Amber, Andy, and Allison.)
Bill Coffman was a shining light of kindness and perseverance. He radiated joy and brought the best out of each person he came in contact with. From his 23 years of fundraising for the Brain Tumor Society, to his work with youth at Florida Youth Challenge Academy, Bill Coffman always went above and beyond for any cause that he believed in.
Bill was so many things to so many people; people we may never even know about were impacted greatly by this amazing man. Bill believed in the very best in people and had a magical gift for helping others manifest the ideals he saw in them.
To Kathy he was a best friend and partner through thick and thin, making memories the world over. From times when they had nothing but their love for each other, until the very end when they had built a family and a home full of love abounding, he was the stable rock of foundation.
To each of his sons he was a super hero, almost of unimaginable strength and ability. To his daughters in law, he was a true father. To his grandchildren...the man could walk on water. A man who had gladly given all of his time, energy, and talents for each and every single one of them.
Bill Coffman never allowed anything to take away from the reality he wished for those around him. He defeated the brain tumors, so he decided everyone else should have that same outcome. Throughout the last 23 years he has raised over $500K for research to end the battle of brain tumors so everyone could have a hope for a healthy tomorrow. Each year he would set a goal and then blow everyone away as he soared past the lofty goal he set for himself.
He came in contact with kids who didn’t have a father figure, knowing the heartache they felt, he became their father figure mentoring countless young men and women into adulthood through the Coral Springs Youth Soccer association and the Florida Youth Challenge Academy. He just couldn’t see a need and walk away. He simply had to do something.
For the past 20+ years Bill has been a staple of the culture of JM Family and in true Bill Coffman fashion went above and beyond making a personal connection with each and every person he came in contact with.
Despite the trials and battles life threw at him, Bill never saw himself as a victim. He decided he was a survivor, a thriver. He never let life get him down.
There are not enough words to do justice to describe this amazing human. We invite everyone to share their personal stories, pictures, videos and memories with us all. Let us enjoy his inspirational life together one last time.
Due to the international pandemic, memorial services will be delayed until further notice. We will certainly notify everyone of the celebration of life services when the time comes.
