On Saturday, December 7th starting at 11:30 AM, we want to get together to honor, share, remember and rejoice in some of our experiences we had with Nesrin. This will take place at our parent's home at:
8220 E. Thistle Ct.
Orange, CA 92869
We will all have different private and shared experiences with her that were undeniably Nesrin. Even if they were private, I'm sure everybody could relate to that experience because it was quintessential Nesrin, especially her sense of humor and good will. Please join us to share or listen.
Thank you to the creators and contributors of GatheringUs. It is not easy during these times and having a resource like this helps us navigate through the fog of grief.

Her empathy, compassion, artistry, beauty and especially her love for laughter will be greatly missed. Those who were privileged to have had her grace their lives don't even need these words to be spoken or written. A single story cannot encompass the many wonderful moments she shared with so many people. Her small frame was a paradox to the big personality she possessed between being fiery, loving and humorous. Her intentions were pure when it came to her family and friends always wanting nothing but the best outcome for all. Nesrin, we want nothing but the best for you and hope that you are laughing now being at peace with warmth filling your spirit.

She passed away in October of a heart attack from a rare coronary heart disease she had but didn't know about. It was a Thursday, and I was swamped with work. In addition, I was recovering from seeing riots on my street and in my city the previous Sunday.
I learned so much from my Turkish friend. Nesrin moved to the United States as a little child. She was bullied and ridiculed by her classmates for being different growing up in the U.S.
I learned from my roommate and friend to respect people of different nationalities and cultures. She taught me to accept their differences and embrace diversity. As a result, I have had many cultural experiences and learned so much about the world from friends and neighbors who grew up in other countries.
I am so thankful for having Nesrin in my life and teaching me so much about acceptance, understanding and inclusion of all races. She taught me, a close minded girl from Huntington Beach, to be open and accepting of all people in the world.
She changed my outlook on life. I have close friends now from all over the world because of her. I will always love and remember her for that.

I shall forever cherish in my heart pocket, all the joy, laughter, and outrageous good times we had together. You will be greatly missed at the game table. My pictionary partner and Yahtzee colleague. Yes, you are in my Double Yahtzee Champion VIP club, always and forever. I love you so much Betty and will miss you tremendously. That laugh, those beautiful eyes and your wicked sense of humor. RIP my sweet angel.

She had the best sense of humor. She was so witty. I had never met anyone so quick with humor, before I met Nes. She was one of the funniest people I ever met. Her big blue eyes and sense of humor lit up a room when she entered.
Our paths lead us in different directions. She lived in Orange County, and I moved to Los Angeles. However, we always remained good friends and saw each other often. Every time we'd get together, it was like we'd just seen each other the day before.
I feel so fortunate to have had such a beautiful person inside and out as one of my longest, dearest and best friends. I believe that Nes and I shared a bond that many people never get to experience in life.
She left this earth too soon, and it's extremely painful not to have her presence in my life. However, I thank God for bringing her into my life and giving us the love and friendship we shared while she was on earth.
Nes I miss you. You were such a good friend. I wish I could have spent more time with you. less
Your mother spoke so sweetly of you as we walked around the park I knew that you must be a wonderful person because she loved you so much!!
May you Rest In Peace always embraced by your mother’s love
Nesrin, I only know of you through your mother (Linda / Sergi) who would talk about you (and sometimes to you on the phone) as we walked Pepper and my two dogs (Shannon and Molly) around the park

I remember thinking that her bright blue eyes were stunningly beautiful. They were truly the windows to her soul. She was the kindest, most compassionate person I have ever met. I was one of her many close friends. She is one of my dearest. Nessie was easy to love, and a member of my family.
There were 5 of us, growing up together. We spent quality years together laughing, dancing, crying, hugging, and having an ABSOLUTE blast. Nessie could remember my past better than me and I will dearly miss her recollection of the old days and all the memories she could share with us girls. I already deeply miss my hours and hours of talking with her and relying on her input and opinions.
I am 55 now and I have no idea how to go on without her. I am in shock and disbelief. I am sure that all of us girls feel the same and realize what an important part she has played in our lives. We will always carry a deep spot in our hearts that no one else will ever be able to fill.
To the family:
Sevgi: Nessie admired you and would talk about how "beautiful" you were. She used to tell me about your strong work ethic, your love for your children and husband, and your internal strength. She always felt supported by you and deeply loved. Your gift to her was teaching her to have a kind and beautiful heart.
Eerol: Nessie adored her 'little brother' and was so proud of the strong and beautiful man you have become. She would tell me stories about you as a child and how cute you were. Your gift to her was the insight that there are good men in the world. She knew you always had her back.
Serap: The bond she had with you ran deep. She respected your advice and shared in your love of the arts. She used to tell me all the time how grateful she was to have you as a sister. You helped her up when she was down and were always referred to as a 'sweet' and 'giving' person. Your gift to her was strength and perseverance. You had a great way of lifting her up.
She couldn't say enough about her family and she couldn't say enough about her friends. She overlooked a lot of our faults and accepted us with a pure heart.
I can not put into words the enormous and everlasting loss this will be for all of the lucky people who got to be a part of this beautiful lady's life.....her gift to us. less

I miss you so much already. As I write my ever changing thoughts while reminiscing you I am teary eyed and smiling all at the same time. My loss of you just can't be measured in any way I can put into any justifiable words. Your spirit and memories will be with me for the rest of my life. I feel robbed to not have had more time with you. I feel honored, privileged and proud to be your brother and to have known you at all. I am grateful to have shared my whole life with you near me in both troubled and celebratory times. You are one the most special important people in my life and this will never change. I'll always remember your infectious playfulness for laughter. I don't want to be cliche and say all the usual things but really do hope you are at peace and know that you are truly loved. I love you so much! Your brother, Erdal Errol Aksoy. less
