It was actually sent to Leila in May of 2019 before she started school the following August (which explains the condition of it 😅), but I cherished it so much that I put it on the fridge, not even realizing that it would be the last. GG was one of the most thoughtful people that I have had the pleasure to meet, and I will forever be grateful to say that she is my grandmother 💕 less

She had been in so much pain and was so uncomfortable for such a long time that almost nothing helped to alleviate her distress, not even the medication. I tried to distract her for a few minutes by playing "What's your favorite...?"
I started with "Greta, what's your favorite color?" But before I let her answer, I said, "Wait! I know what it is!"
She said, "What is it?"
"Mauve," I said.
She acknowledged that I was right.
So I asked her, "What's your favorite flower?"
She answered, "I didn't know I had one."
"I know that you do. I'm pretty sure it's lavendar roses." She shook her head, No. I told her that I was sure it must be because she had lavendar roses in her wedding bouquet. She gave me a puzzled expression. Carroll finally said, "Talisman Roses. Her bouquet had talisman roses in it." That about blew me away, although it shouldn't have, given Carroll's photographic memory. He forgets nothing. Below is a photo of Talisman Roses. less

When they got to Marie Louise's place, someone realized that Greta had been left on the bed all by herself at the other house. Fortunately, someone went back and got her.
On the day that Greta was born, it was Mardi Gras in Louisiana. I think that set the stage on which the "Queen of Laughter" would play out her life. One year in the very recent past, Valerie made a hilarious birthday card for Greta as The Mardi Gras Baby. I hope you'll post it here, Val, so we can all enjoy it. less
