I gave some thought to what I would have said if given the opportunity and was there, when everyone took turns sharing their favorite memories and stories with you... I'm not an outwardly emotional sharer but I'm sure what I might have said would have be something like this...
You were my best friend from the moment we met at 15 years old. Your memory lives in so many things that surround my day to day, there's never a moment where I don't realize how greatly you impacted my life. Every time I choose which socks to wear, I think of your refusal to acknowledge matching socks as an option. Every time I crave something sweet and go looking for candy, I think of your never-ending candy supply in your purse and introduction to Zots. Every time I go camping, or take long drives in the car, sit down for a movie, or find a new book...I think of you - your unconditional love, your contagious laugh, and your unique life energy. You were beyond special.
This photo is blurry...but it's the last photo we ever took together. It's hard to believe the last time I saw you, the last time I heard your voice, the last time we hugged...was my wedding day. It's hard to admit that in our 15+ years of friendship, we had watched each other have ups and downs with our other friends, yet never had one that separated us...until that day.
