Wendy Page Taylor has set her kayak in the river of life for the last time this morning as she set sail for God’s golden shore, for He has called her home.
She was born Wendy Jane Page in Brown Deer, Wisconsin on July 24, 1956 to Patricia Winter Page and Cyril Dyke Page. One of five children, she is survived by three siblings, Steve, Amy, and David.
Wendy passed peacefully at her home with her family on October 25th, 2019 after a long battle with cancer, as did her mother Patricia and sister Laurie many years before her.
Wendy lived in Carthage, North Carolina these past 31 years, where she married James Patrick Taylor on August 15th 1987 and raised her two children, Laura Marie Patricia Taylor and Dillon Stephen Taylor. She is survived by all three.
Wendy remained active to the end with her love for karate and those with whom she shared such a great fellowship. Her one and only dojo was Southeast Karate Association of Siler City. A member for over 30 years, Wendy received her fifth-degree black belt from Master Jolly and a special commendation from founding Master Yu.
In 2012, Wendy joined a group of likeminded people with the intention to raise money for the fight to end cancer and the suffering caused by this terrible disease. This wonderful group paddles 208 miles down the Neuse River annually to remember their own struggles and the struggles of loved ones affected by this epidemic, while raising money for cancer research. Under the auspices of the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life of Wayne County, their unique group is called Hope Floats. With a passion for being of service and helping others, Wendy worked to receive her Respiratory Therapist license, graduating magna cum laude from Sandhills Community College in 2002. Wendy has worked these many years at Chatham Hospital of Siler City and First Health of Pinehurst. She was loved by all her team members and the patients she helped.
Wendy was the brightest of lights in all that she did. Of all those that will miss Wendy’s love the most are God’s feathered creations and the flowering plants that Wendy cared for so selflessly.
