Vernon Rex Allen of San Diego, CA, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at the age of 62.

Vernon was born to parents Robert and Clara Allen in Wickenburg, AZ. His father was a coal miner from Nobine County, Tennessee. His mother was a homemaker from Westport, Tennessee. He grew up in Blythe, CA as the twelfth child out of fourteen siblings. As a teenager he moved to Orange County, CA and attended Saddleback High School.

In 1975, he began his career in manufacturing at Advanced Thermal Products. He stayed with the company for 37 years, retiring in 2012 as a Quality Control Manager. In 1979, he married the love of his life Juana “Gloria” Allen. They had one daughter, Stacy Lee Allen, in 1984. Unfortunately, the marriage ended and Vernon never remarried. He spent 43 years in Orange County until relocating to San Diego, CA.

Vernon is survived by his daughter, Stacy Booth; his grandson, Jackson Booth; his brother Robert Allen; his sister, Devonda Cormell; and lots of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Clara; his sisters, Shirley, Martha, Juanita, and Lasonda; his brother, Raymond; and six infant siblings.

The cremation will take place in May 2020. Family and friends will be invited to attend the scattering of the ashes in the Pacific Ocean with a celebration of his life to follow. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic we are postponing the scattering and celebration of life until we are able to gather safely. We will update this memorial with information as we have it.
