A chubby, wailing baby boy was born in Mesa, Arizona on July 7, 1946 to the union of Steve Travis Miller and Zelma Miller. The named him Steve Travis Miller, but everyone called him Travis or Trav.
Travis was brought up with a Christian foundation. He accepted Christ at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Mesa, where he attended with his parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He grew up playing with his favorite first cousin whom he affectionately called "B.A." and together they were known as "Double Trouble". Growing up the extended Frelix family called him "Big Brother', and early in his life he became someone whose wisdom, intellect and peaceful nature was consistently called upon by the family. When a piece of family history came into question for his family, everyone counted on Travis to remember the details.
Travis attended schools in Mesa, graduating from Mesa High School and then matriculated to Arizona State University where he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing.
In 1976, Travis married Annette Smith in Englewood, California. To that union two sons were born, Ryan and Justin. He was a great father and loving husband, a true example of a Man of God. An ambitious and visionary man, Travis career took them to the states of California, New Jersey and Colorado before moving back to Arizona. Travis was employed by Mountain Bell, retired from AT&T and worked as a Marketing and Communication Consultant until his full retirement in 2017.
Travis re-dedicated his life to the Lord in 1987 and his journey deepened in reading and studying the scriptures with a new hunger and thirst for God. He was never hesitant to share the Word of God and was passionate about winning Souls for the Lord. He served in ministry alongside his wife, Pastor Annette Miller, at Heritage Christian Center in Denver, Colorado for over 15 years, Travis and his family relocated to Phoenix in 2008 and united with Fountain of Life House of worship in 2009.
On Friday, September 11, 2020, S, Travis Miller stepped into the presence of his Lord and Savior. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. ST and Zelma Miller, numerous aunts’, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
It is impossible to summarize all that Travis accomplished and how much he meant to his family and those who knew him. He was caring, beloved, thoughtful, and funny. He enjoyed cooking, staying abreast of the latest technology, reading, traveling and just life in general. He was a man after God’s own heart. Those whom he called family went far beyond the bounds of blood relatives.
Travis leaves to cherish his precious memories and love: His loving and devoted wife of forty-four years, Annette Miller; two sons, Christopher Ryan and Steven Justin; one brother, James Arthur (Jim) Miller, one sister in-law, Diane Miller; two sisters, Zelma Jean Miller-Aikens, and Eddiest May Ham, one brother in-law, Jerome Ham; one ninety-eight year old aunt, Lula Henry of Salt Lake City, and his favorite cousin, Barbara A. Nelson. He will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Psalm 91:1-2: Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.
