In Loving Memory of Thomas “Tom” Ernest Davis, 93 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, 12th of May at Nanaimo General Hospital in Nanaimo, BC, Canada, with his loving family at his side.
Beloved husband of Muriel Georgina Davis, predeceased in 2000. Loving father of Alan Stephen Davis (wife Jackie), predeceased in 2019, and Susan Lesley Cuthbert, predeceased in 1990. Cherished grandfather of Neil James Cuthbert (wife Aisha) and Lane Phillip Cuthbert (wife Emily). Tom also leaves behind three beautiful great grandchildren, Emerson, Evie and Ethan Cuthbert.
Tom was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England on the 16th of June, 1925, during the great depression. Once the Second World War started he was a messenger for the Air Raid Protection unit. He then went on to become a Fireman Driver with the Auxiliary Fire Service. In 1943, he became an Air Mechanic with the Fleet Air Arm.
When he was released from the Navy he worked for a plastics company as a mechanic, then engineering supervisor, then manager. Until he moved to Canada, with his family, where he worked as an engineering manager, got involved with the Canadian Legion and was Chairman of the Royal Navy Association in Ontario.
He enjoyed golf, snooker, football, carpet bowling and ballroom dance.
One of Tom’s fondest memory is when he exchanged welcomes with HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
He will be remembered as wonderful storyteller, dancer, and devoted family man.
