Terry Elyse Bittker passed away peacefully on May 25, 2019 at MedStar Montgomery Hospital in Olney, Maryland at the age of 60. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Terry was born on April 21, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan to Louise and James Bittker. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Gallaudet University and Master of Social Work Degree from University of Maryland. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Terry was born on April 21, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan to Louise and James Bittker. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Gallaudet University and Master of Social Work Degree from University of Maryland. Terry had a heart of gold and lived to bring love to those around her. She worked for many years as a social worker, using her compassion, wit, and intelligence to tirelessly advocate to protect and advance the rights of those with disabilities. She served on many boards, including the Washington Society of Jewish Deaf.
Terry was married for over ten years. She courageously dealt with many health challenges using her unmatched sense of humor. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and cats, embarking on travel adventures, playing word games, and making others laugh. She had a passionate love of people, and valued inclusiveness, humor, and kindness above all else.
Terry’s life was an example of living each day with fearless optimism and altruism.
Terry is survived by her mother Louise Bittker; sisters Wendy (Jeffrey) Cossman and Cindy Bittker; four nieces; plus three grandnieces and two grandnephews. She filled all of their lives with endless love and kindness.
