Tamara Anderson of Ottawa, Ontario and Gaithersburg, Maryland passed away unexpectedly on Friday October 4 at the age of 50. Tamara is survived by her mother Lynda and step-father Pancho, her siblings Todd (Andrea) , Leah and Jason, stepchildren (Alexa, Bianca, Elijah and Elle), her dear nephew (and niece (Jack and Tessa) and scores of friends, old and young, whose lives she had touched.
Tamara lived a life of love and light, overcoming adversity and never shying away from a challenge. She enjoyed hiking and being outdoors, cooking fabulous food and sharing it with those lucky enough to be at her table. After leaving high school, Tamara studied interior design and spent several years in western Canada, Tamara returned to Ottawa to the delight of friends she had left behind and the new ones she made. In 2009 she moved to Maryland extending her network of warmth to more close friends, neighbors, and four stepchildren who were blessed by her love.
Tamara enjoyed visiting her family, in particular her mother Lynda in Mexico, and we all take solace in the fact that Lynda was with her there when she needed her most. She was recently baptized and almost certainly her faith provided her with strength and peace in a very difficult time these last few months.
She left us too early, without a chance to say goodbye, so we offer this space as an opportunity for people to share memories, photographs, thoughts and prayers for a beautiful woman, inside and out, who hopefully knew how much she was loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Journey’s Crossings Church in Germantown, MD 20874 on
Saturday October 19th at 3pm and will be available for viewing online simultaneously (https://journeyscrossing.org) to allow us all the opportunity to honour our dear friend.
In memory of Tamara who loved life, children and Nature the future garden of a refuge home for teen moms being built in the DR called The Tree of Life Project will be named in her honour.
