OBITUARY
We are saddened by the sudden loss of our loved one. Steve was an amazing man with a full heart. He had a quiet demeanor but a rigorous brain and always had a book nearby. We are all so shocked by the news and will miss him dearly.
As we prepare for his celebration of life we would like to welcome you to this memorial site where we will provide updates and friends and family can visit to share a memory, quote or just to... see more

Steve was a rare one: Loved a college football game, a discussion of 19th century stories, or a debate about the current state of the Southwest Asia. Here we are in 2015, sort of doing all of that. I am so shocked and feel a great loss.
I'm still in shock about this. Gonna miss you, man. I loved talking books with you. You were such an avid reader and that inspired me to get back to reading. Thanks for the book loans, the long talks, and being a great coworker. Losing you so quickly makes me really appreciate what I have and how it could all go away without warning. This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for you and your friendship. Rest in Peace, my friend. less

The reality still has not set in yet. We spent most Thanksgivings together. Tomorrow will not be normal in many ways but him not being there will probably be the biggest reason. I know he touched many lives and I hope to see and meet many of you when we can all get together and honor my brother. I love you and miss you Steve. less

Because of the current COVID-19 pandemic we are waiting to organize a celebration for him and his abundant life. Please check back here for updates early 2021. In the meantime, Sean, his brother is working to coordinate his estate which is a very slow process as we are not located in NC. We do want to let everyone know that Steve passed due to a sudden cardiac event that was brought on by some underlying health conditions. Our hope is that he passed in his sleep peacefully. We are thankful for his biological mother and the local authorities who helped to notify us of his passing. We would also like to thank his company, Lowe's, for their support along with the apartment building he lived in while we work through everything.
