Surinder Singh was born in 1938 (Chakwaal, undivided Punjab) to Mr. Jaswant Singh and Ms. Raj Kaur. After Partition, Surinder’s family relocated to Punjab India and settled in Chandigarh.Surinder Singh completed his education from Punjab University Jalandhar and joined the Army and later Border Security Force (BSF) from where he retired as the Commandant.
Surinder Singh married Ms. Surinder Kaur on May 14th 1968 in Chandigarh. They started their journey as a couple from Shillong, Meghalaya and moved to different places during his time with the Army and BSF. They were blessed with a son (Jitender Deep Singh) and daughter (Jaspreet Kaur). The family emigrated to the U.S. in 1994 and initially settled in Baltimore,
MD followed by Aldie, VA where he passed away.
Surinder Singh is remembered by his family and friends as a true gentleman - polite, respectable, honorable and always ready to help anyone without any expectations.
He was a True Guru Ka Sikh who believed in Bhana (Wish/Will) and Hukam(Order) and was happy and content in what Waheguguji blessed him with. He was a true Soldier who not only fought real wars but also many life battles overcoming them with the spirit Chardi Kala - always in high spirits and ever progressive.
Surinder Singh Oberoi will always be remembered and loved.
Surinder Singh Oberoi is survived by his wife -Surinder Kaur ;Daughter -Jaspreet Kaur,Son in law -Gagandeep Sawhney, two grandkids- Arsheen Kaur and Veeraj Singh and his six siblings-
Gurinder Kaur, Gurnam Kaur, Tirlochan Singh, Manjeet Kaur, Rajinder Singh and Dolly Kaur.
