Rosemary Hawthorne, 80, passed away on January 1, 2020 at Providence Hospital in Everett, WA, with her four children at her side. She was born on March 7, 1939 in Vancouver, B.C. to John and Doris McCormack.

Rosemary grew up in Vancouver, B.C. She graduated as valedictorian from the Little Flower Academy in Vancouver, B.C. in 1956. Rosemary married John Hamilton and had four children (Ken, Steve, Mark, and Debbie). Her second marriage was to Terrance Hawthorne in 1969 (who had three children: Dana, Bruce, and Ian, from a previous marriage) when she moved from Vancouver, B.C. to Seattle, WA.

Rosemary worked at the phone company (AT&T then Pacific Northwest Bell), starting out as an operator and moving up to work in Human Resources, maintenance management, and finally as a construction manager for underground cable. After retiring from the phone company, Rosemary successfully ran “Canopies by Fred” a small canopy supply company. After selling the canopy company Rosemary and Terry moved to Bellingham, WA where she was active in community activities. Rosemary’s favorite hobby was rooting for the Seattle Seahawks.

Rosemary is survived by her children (Ken Hamilton, Sarasota FL, Steve Hamilton, Sumner WA, Mark Hamilton, Vancouver WA, Debbie Stanavich, Ellensburg WA), her brother (Richard McCormack, Vancouver B.C.) as well as eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband Terrance Hawthorne, parents John and Doris McCormack, sisters Mavis Harkness and Mimi Schaefer.

No funeral service will be held at this time. The family is planning a celebration of life in the Seattle area in the spring of 2020 and a family retreat in Vancouver, B.C. in the summer of 2020.
