We... moreThe purpose of this endeavor is to aid unfortunate animals in the interest of a higher quality of life. We are one of very few rescues who take in the most difficult medical cases. We do it because no one else will. Other rescues, the city’s Animal Control and our neighbors look to us for help and support. Over the years SCAR has saved thousands of animals (Over 8000 animals pulled from animal care and control alone since 1998).

Robert L. Bloom, 71, died suddenly of COVID-19 at his home in Brooklyn, NY on April 12th, 2020. A lifetime resident of Brooklyn, he was born on March 5, 1949 to Ethel and Irving Bloom who predeceased him. Robert was a dedicated sports fan and traveled with his friends to games up and down the eastern... see moreRobert L. Bloom, 71, died suddenly of COVID-19 at his home in Brooklyn, NY on April 12th, 2020. A lifetime resident of Brooklyn, he was born on March 5, 1949 to Ethel and Irving Bloom who predeceased him. Robert was a dedicated sports fan and traveled with his friends to games up and down the eastern seaboard. He followed so many teams, including but not limited to the NY Mets, Brooklyn Cyclones, Brooklyn Nets, NJ Devils, and the NYU Violets. He was also a supporter of animal rescue and devoted to his own two cats. Minnie and Mittens. He received a Bachelor of Science from City College of New York and a Master of Science from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He is survived by numerous family and friends.
