The Heavens gained a very special man on April 18, 2019. We remember and honor the life of Richard J. Federocko and all the wonderful memories he has left with the family and friends he loved so much. He passed in his home in Ormond Beach, FL where he lived part-time to enjoy the Florida sunshine when he wasn’t at his home by the lake in Hopatcong, NJ.
He is predeceased by his parents Marie and Joseph. And survived by his wife of 59 years, Odilia (Canella), daughter Diane (Toth) in NC, son Richard, Jr., in NJ, granddaughters Devinn (Toth) Graves and Dariane (Toth) Newby in GA and Sandra Federocko in MI, as well as 5 great-grandchildren, sister Janet (Petino) in NJ, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and their families.
Richard graduated from Bayonne High School where he was a basketball star. He served time in the US Army, worked for General Cable, Pirelli Tires, and Avon. He is most fondly remembered for running “Herman’s Shoe Store” with granddaughter Devinn in the early 1980s.
Richard, “Richie,” “Rich,” “Chard,” to most “Pops”. . . all we can say is “what a guy!” You were a real “yoker” with a great sense of humor, who always kept us laughing and smiling. We’ll always go for the big one and think of you when we go fishing. You never let us forget about our Kentucky Derby picks, or what was going on with your favorite sports. The smell of Carefree bubblegum will always remind us of you. When we were with you, we didn’t have a care in the world. You are and always will be our sunshine!
Richard is a dear, gentle man who will be missed so very much.
