Rebecca Jean Ferguson, age 56, of Roswell GA, left this earthly life on November 26th, 2019 in Marietta, GA.
Receiving of Family and Friends will begin at 1pm Saturday December 14th in the columbarium at Southern Cremations and Funerals. (1861 Dallas Highway, Marietta GA)
A memorial service will begin at 2pm
Rebecca was born in Council Grove, KS to Walter and Carol Estes on May 10, 1963. She graduated High School from Salina High Central in 1981. She was married to Dana James Ferguson for 30 years and had four children. In 1991 she graduated from Wichita State University with an undergraduate degree in education and in 2014 acquired her master’s degree in special education from Kennesaw State University. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Kansas for many years and later as a special education teacher in Georgia, all the while being a loving homemaker. She loved teaching so much that she decided to homeschool her youngest, Alizah. In 2014 Rebecca met Bob Shearer, her loving partner, and spent her remaining years living life to the fullest with him.
Rebecca has many hobbies including sewing and painting. She is one of the few people who can follow a recipe exactly but still get something completely different. She is known for being a DIY mom and has instilled that into her entire family. Whether it be a dress for little Emma, a broken rocking chair, or an entire dilapidated mansion, Rebecca was up for the challenge. She loved making things and fixing things, almost as much as she loved her children.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents Walter Estes and Carol Sisson, stepfather Jeff, sisters Connie and Carol and brother Shannon.
Rebecca is survived by her children Brent (Amanda) Powder Springs GA, Amanda (Grant) Lynchburg VA, Byron (Acworth GA), Alizah (Knoxville TN). Partner Bob Shearer; Sisters Cindy, Brenda, Robyn, Stephanie, Chastity and Susan; Brothers Rick, Scott, Jason and Adam; Foster parents Carolyn and Paul Burt; Grandchildren James, Caraline and Emma.
Honorary Urn Bearers: Amanda Smith, Alizah Ferguson, Caraline Smith, Amanda Ferguson, Emma Ferguson and her many nieces.
