Final obituary to come, but I will start with this:
Born in Menlo Park, Randy was a true friend and beloved by all who met him. He was a lover of the ocean, the redwoods, and all species of plants; as a lifetime gardener he was a perfectionist of his craft. From bonsai to floral arrangements, apricot orchards to lush gardens and vineyards, Randy poured his heart into his work. His greatest gifts were in his heart and hands.
Randy didn’t command attention, but he drew it, with his infectious laughter, quick wit, and gentle eyes. He was cool but never tried to be, nor did he ever complain; he faced hardships with humility and grace.
He was built to fly at a young age, high jumping 6 feet at Menlo Atherton High and setting records for his slam dunks at Menlo College. He leaves behind his wife Vicki and their dog Pebbles, and his son Justin, who were there beside him for his ultimate flight.
"In the end, only three things matter:
how much you loved,
how gently you lived,
and how gracefully you let go
of things not meant for you."
