Peggy is gone but will never be forgotten. Peggy was a very focused, determined young lady, seeking always to achieve her goals, never one to easily ask for help. Peggy became a casualty of premeditated arson to her apartment, losing everything she ever owned, Hurricane Sandy, homelessness and finally succumbing to the cold hands of death
For those who were Peggy's childhood friends, they will always remember her cheerfulness, kind heart and generosity. Above all, they will always remember her signature song at school. Peggy loved her Lafayette Avenue, Fort Greene Brooklyn Apartment so much that it was home to her for over 27 years. Peggy was a quintessential New Yorker, attended Pace University and Lehman College for Social Work all in New York. Peggy was a social worker for almost 30 years. Peggy would be remembered by those whom she assisted and co-workers as PEGGY CASBY. Worked at the Post Graduate Center of Mental Health for 12 years, and The Family Center previously on Reade Street from 1998-2010.
Peggy's story was carried by Patch, Park Slope community newspaper on November 1, 2012. Peggy my dearest, you came, saw and conquered. You have played your part and exited the stage of life but you live on forever in our hearts. The streets of New York and Brooklyn will surely miss your steps.
My beloved Peggy, your IGBO names reflected God's promise for you at birth.
NKIRUKA = The future is greater & brighter
EBELECHUKWU = The mercy & grace of God
NDUBISI = Once there is life, there is hope.
You surely lived to fulfill those promises
Peggy has gone through so much suffering in the past 7+ years, but she now rests in perfect peace with the Lord. May her gentle soul find eternal rest till we meet again. Adieu my sister, Adieu.

I, too, came from humble beginnings and have always been drawn to helping others. Somehow, I was touched with the good fortune to be able to have a comfortable lufe and an apartment in which I have been for 24 years. My heart goes out to you and your family at this time. I pray that you will soon be able to recover the body of your sister and be able to memorialize her as you wish. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. Godspeed. less

She was very vibrant, had a feistiness which I loved in her, showing courage and determination. She was very selfless, remained undaunted, very hardworking and it was all these that drove her as a person and she was able to achieve and accomplish her goal.
I have known Ebele since her GBAGADA days [high school], very sociable, well known and liked. She was a very good dancer at parties, school Lits as it known back then. She was friends with everybody in my family.
She was able through her determination to travel to the US where she put herself through college. We lost touch for a while and we reconnected when she came back to Nigeria whilst on vacation and came to the Bank where I was working to pursue her school remittance and we continued our friendship.
It is saddening that you had to go like this at your prime, but as I believe you went through quite a lot at the later stage, which you did not deserve and now you are at peace at the bossom of the lord.
However God only knows best and may your very gentle soul continue to rest peacefully as you will be missed dearly and fondly remembered.

Peggy: My sister-in law is a tenaciously strong-willed woman; always wanting to give than to receive. Her friends who have called in regarding her passing are expressing the same. She would be missed. Adieu and rest in perfect peace.

My beloved husband, Peggy was a sister more than a sister-in-law to you. She touched all our lives the precious time she was with us. We shall meet Peggy again.
