After a gradual decline in health, Paduella “Pat” Marie Giacaman unexpectedly passed away on December 4, 2019 surrounded by family and friends.
Pat was born on April 13, 1957 to Abraham and Henrietta Gordon. She graduated from the High School for the Health Professions and attended college at the University of Saint Thomas. While attending college she met John Giacaman and they were married on June 19, 1977. They welcomed their first daughter, Marcie, followed by their second daughter, Cristina and then son, Phillip.
In 1987, Pat’s life took a different turn when she started studying the bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. After gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation for Jehovah, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on June 24, 1988. Pat was devoted to serving Jehovah and was very active in preaching and teaching others about the Bible. When Pat was not teaching others, she enjoyed sewing quilts, creating jewelry, scrapbooking and decorating.
Pat is survived by her husband John Giacaman, daughters Marcie Roberts and Cristina Giacaman. She is also survived by brothers Craig Gordon and his wife Donna, Linus Gordon and his wife Jackie, and Brian Gordon and his wife Teandra. She is also survived by sister Deborah Ramos and her husband Peter, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents Abraham and Henrietta Gordon, beloved son Phillip Giacaman, and brother Randy Gordon.
One of Pat’s favorite scriptures was Romans 14:8 – “For if we live, we live to Jehovah, and if we die, we die to Jehovah. So both if we live and if we die, we belong to Jehovah.” She was confident in her hope for an earthly resurrection, promised in Revelation 21:4 - “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
The Giacaman family would like to express deep appreciation to family and friends for the care and loving concern shown. Jehovah has truly blessed us with a wonderful brotherhood of brothers and sisters.
Pat will be laid to rest next to her son, Philip Giacaman at San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston, Texas,
An invitation is extended to family and friends to join us at the Summerwood Community Center immediately following the memorial service.
The following letter is an adaptation of the letter written for Pat’s son, Phillip.
Dearest Pat,
This is a letter to you and the many lives you touched.
A letter for those who did not have the privilege of knowing you.
A letter expressing how deeply you were loved and how deeply you will be remembered.
A letter to encourage and strengthen us when we feel we can no longer go on.
A letter to remind us how much you loved people, and the many hugs you unselfishly gave.
A letter to remind us of your contagious smile.
A letter to remind us to smile when we reflect on the joy you brought into our lives.
A letter to read when we continue to feel the pain of losing you.
A letter to say “thank you” for your kindness and generosity.
A letter to help us endure until we meet again in the resurrection.
With this letter, we express how much we will always love and cherish you.
