THE OBITUARY
OTIS T.DAVIS answered the call of our Heavenly father and transitioned peacefully in eternity on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, from his hospital bed where a series of illnesses became overwhelming. OTIS was born in Lawrenceville, Virginia on May 1, 1939, to Henderson Davis and Julie Butts both preceding his death. He has a brother Frank Davis, who resides in his birthplace, Lawrenceville Virginia.
Those who preceded him in death, his sister Zetta Davis, brothers Al Davis, Henderson Davis Jr, Checko Davis, Garnett Davis, William Dick Davis, and Hubert Davis. His family moved to Brooklyn, New York when Otis was a young man. He grew up in a 12 family apartment that his father successfully provided for his family and encouraged his children's independence. Otis became a union member with Local 1198 GCIU Welfare Fund. He worked with them for decades, until retirement. Otis assisted his wife Deborah to be an exclusive delivery service for the legal and financial services company, CPC. They both worked here for several years. His first marriage was unsuccessful. He moved into a long time relationship with his wife Deborah where they have shared a life together since the 1980s. Otis and Deborah were almost an old married couple- they officially married in August of 2017.
Otis was a kind, progressive and spiritual man. Although he was not a regular church attendee, he was the kind of person you wish you’d met in church. He was a man who enjoyed life and first-class items it had to offer as jewelry, travel, sports, games of chance, music especially R&B and Jazz. He also enjoyed taking photographs of family, friends and special events. Otis and Deborah shared a true fondness and devotion to their pets. His wife and pets will certainly feel his absence. Otis leaves to memorialize him, a devoted wife Deborah, a cherished brother Frank, niece Tanya, nephews, Lawrence and Dudley, brother-in-law Alston, also a beloved longtime friends Robert, Shawn and Bob Cooper.
He will be missed by a host of colleagues, friends, and acquaintances.
His greatness and generosity will not be forgotten. He has now gone to join so many loved ones, especially his niece Margaret, and nephew, Henderson Davis III
REST IN PEACE MY BELOVED HUSBAND- Deborah.
