Nigel was with us at MPS/MIS from 2005-2009. He was a professional and caring Principal and leader who oversaw the change to our international status, introduction of C.I.P.P. and many new IGCSE subjects, steered us through the devastation of Cyclone Gonu in 2007 and the celebration of our 20th Year in 2009 of being a leading educational institution in Oman. A true leader whose passion for education was genuinely infectious.
Nigel welcomed me to my first BSME conference with open arms and a huge smile that reached across the room. From that moment I knew I had a friend, thank you Nigel.

I was a novice teacher at the NES in Jordan and a class I was really struggling with (9A...!!!) became silent as he appeared. A lift of the eyebrow and they all fell into line. I was much relieved and immensely grateful - I never had quite so much trouble with them after that! On another occasion, I had helped organise a raffle and I happened to win first prize - a flight back to the UK. I donated the prize for auction to help the cause..Nigel bid for it, won it...and gave it back to me. I imagine such kindness was demonstrated by him throughout his life to numerous people and I have no doubt that I shall be one many who silently thank him now and bid goodbye to a wonderful man with the biggest of hearts. less
I’ll always remember the time he put up a song on for all the new teachers with the simple phrase ‘smile twenty times every day’ and that’s what he always did.. showed a simple ‘smile’ to everyone.
