Nancy Kay (Cordrey) Daniels, 67, passed away with dignity fighting a courageous battle with cancer in Orlando, FL on June 12th, 2019 at the Commons at Orlando Lutheran Towers. She was born May 1, 1952 in San Diego, CA. Growing up in Van Dyne, WI, Nancy really enjoyed chorus and she had a lot of fun in Home Economics with her best friend Gail Patt. Often, she would sneak out of the house with Gail to go to after school activities. Nancy always loved to laugh and have fun. She graduated from Horace Mann High School in North Fond Du Lac, WI.
In 1973 she moved to Oshkosh, WI. She had 4 children; Paul Thomas, Teresa Kay, Tammy Marie, and Lindsay Ann. Nancy’s children were her life and summers were her favorite time of the year when her children were on summer break. Her best memories were spent going to the park, camping with family, spending countless hours in the pool, and making lip sync videos with her daughters. Some of the best laughs were at the annual Christmas gift exchange she would have with her children. One of her many talents included cake decorating. She made countless birthday and wedding cakes. She also was an amazing seamstress. She loved to sew Barbie clothes, dresses, bonnets, and other items of clothing. Her pride was making baptismal gowns for her grandchildren.
While living in Oshkosh she earned credits at Fox Valley Technical College to run a small daycare in her home. She loved teaching and caring for children. The families she met became great, lifelong friends.
Nancy’s legacy though was playing piano. She was self-taught to play at a young age while watching her older sisters take lessons. Her entire life she played piano at home, restaurants, churches, and recorded her own music to sell.
In 2000 she moved to Lehigh Acres, FL with Lindsay and her late husband, Eric Daniels. There she ran her own consignment store called “Second Impressions Design and Consign” and continued to play piano. She was always a person who could “do-it-herself” and was determined to fix anything. Her organization skills were phenomenal. She also really enjoyed laundry (especially hanging clothes on the line), painting, and planting flowers.
Nancy will be remembered by so many as determined, fun, resourceful, creative, brave, and motherly. She had many dear friends over the years. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. She lived with pain for a long time from her motorcycle accident in 1985, but she never let her disability stop her from living a full life.
Nancy was preceded by death by her sister (Brenda Bellmer), mother (May Cordrey), father (Raymond Cordrey), and husband (Eric Daniels). She is survived by her sister Judie (Jim) Main; sister Linda Felker; sister Carol (Craig) Smith; sister Kathryn (TJ) Padjen; sister Mary (Bob) Beisner; brother John (Tammy) Cordrey; son Paul (Rebecca) Wolf; daughter Teresa (Ryan) Wolf; daughter Tammy Wolf Carey; daughter Lindsay (Mike) Washburn; 9 grandchildren Landon Thomas, Madeline Rae, Logan Michael, Logan Paul, Nina Marie, Layton Walker, Samantha Jane, Gwendolyn Irene and Jaxson Liam; close friend Ronald Austin; best friend Gail (Jim) Patt; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
