“How you view it is how you do it.” That’s one of the numerous positive words of wisdom given to many by Nadine Sterling Beezley of Sedona, who entered eternal life unexpectedly on March 6, 2021. “Lighten up” was another one of her favorites, so much so that LY10UP is the license plate of her little white sports car that she treasured. B-positive wasn’t just her blood type, it was her way of life.
Nadine began life as a miracle baby on May 4, 1942 in Miami Beach, FL to Albert and Gladys “Peggy” Wilner. She was born at just under 3 pounds, so prematurely at that time the doctors told her mother she would not survive. But she had other ideas and proved the doctors wrong by not only ending up surviving, but thriving. She always felt a connection to other preemies and for many years volunteered in hospital NICUs holding the babies to nurture their development.
Finding optimism in every situation, Nadine brightened up every room she walked into and had a habit of putting smiles on countless faces. “You need a dose of Nadine” was sometimes uttered to those down in the dumps. Everyone she met felt more confident and better about who they were, as she dismissed any thoughts of finding fault or feeling failure within oneself. She empowered people and encouraged them to be bold, to fear less, and do what they love. She was able to impact many by spreading her positivity to huge classes of people at Weight Watchers in Tucson, where she served as a popular motivational speaker for 25 years.
Nadine found joy in all things simple. She loved shopping, but not at your typical department store. Thrift stores were her thing. Her thrill was going out dressed in designer clothes and telling you she got the entire ensemble for ten dollars. In her world, the glass wasn’t just half full, it was always full, and there was no such thing as enough shoes. She loved bright colors, butterflies, ladybugs, hearts, flowers, and all things “yummy.”
Nadine lived in Sedona with her devoted husband of 36 years, Thomas Beezley. She also loved spending quality time with her three wonderful sons Marc Sterling, Tommy Stovall, and A.J. Sterling, who left us much too early; her three adoring grandchildren Trevor Sterling Stovall, Samantha Sterling, and Christopher Sterling; her brother, Norwood (Woody) Wilner; and her furry four-legged daughter of 12 years, Ladybugg.
Services to celebrate Nadine’s amazing life and honor the positive impact she left on all those who knew her will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021, from 1-3 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theater in Sedona. Bring your precious memories to share, and wear all things black and white and bright and beautiful to celebrate her. For donations in her memory, the family asks they be made to Verde Valley Sanctuary or Twice Nice Thrift Store, where Nadine volunteered for many years.
