On November 7th, 2021, Mousumi Rath passed way due to complications with ovarian cancer. She died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Our amazing Milly was a caring mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. To her children, she was their best friend and inspiration. To the rest of her friends and family she was the bright light that everyone could depend on to be there in the best of times as well as the hardest ones. Milly was a generous person and always put the needs of others over her own without hesitation.
Milly had great loves outside of her family too. Countless days were spent in her backyard transforming an overgrown, grassy mess into an immersive and colorful yard (even with an organic vegetable garden that bore the sweetest and juiciest produce). She even was able to make friends with the many birds, squirrels, and other critters that visited her backyard. As many of us know, Milly was an amazing painter and artist and always looked to put her own unique twist on every project she did. She had a very special talent of singing, and although Milly never took any formal training she was still able to hit every high note. Her voice brightened up every corner of the house and made everyone's hearts full with joy. Milly also was a talented and creative cook, looking to experiment with ingredients and add a Desi twist on American classics. In her professional career at Thermo Fisher Scientific, we saw Milly rise to great heights due to her unwavering perseverance and her undeniable thirst for excellence. All of her colleagues would rave about how amazing she was and the way she cared about every relationship she had at work.
Even when things got tough, she always looked for the beauty in life everywhere she went. We will very much miss the color and excitement that she brought to us each and every day. If we find ourselves missing Milly, we can always stop and appreciate the energy of our surroundings, the beauty of the flowers, the chirping of birds, and all the things we are blessed to have. By doing all these things we can honor her memory in the way she would have wanted.
Milly is survived by her two sons, Tejas and Tanush, her husband Jamini, her brother Abhisek, and her parents Chandan and Sudharani.
We all love you Milly, and are so thankful that you were in our lives. There is no one like you and there will never be anyone like you.
Please note, we are not looking for donations to the family. As per Milly's wishes please consider making a donation to the Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation. If you choose to donate, please make checks payable to Sandra J Wing Healing Therapies Foundation (and make sure to write “In Mousumi Rath’s Memory” in the memo line). You can send the checks to this address: 5890 Stoneridge Dr STE 104, Pleasanton, CA 94588. This would be a great way to honor Milly's memory.
