Michael Ristau, 54, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday after a long courageous battle. Michael was born December 16, 1950 in Albany, the son of Alfred and Rita Ristau and resided in Syracuse most of his life. Michael's life was spent helping others. In 1988, he founded Heart to Heart Living with Addiction, to help those battling alcoholic and drug addiction.... see more

Michael Ristau, 54, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday after a long courageous battle. Michael was born December 16, 1950 in Albany, the son of Alfred and Rita Ristau and resided in Syracuse most of his life. Michael's life was spent helping others. In 1988, he founded Heart to Heart Living with Addiction, to help those battling alcoholic and drug addiction. Although not a counselor himself, Michael served as a consultant to many. His service to others included a syndicated newspaper column which had international coverage. Michael's dedication to helping others was usually done in a quiet manner. He was however recognized by the Onondaga Council on Alcoholism with their Service of the Year Award.
