Due to COVID-19, the viewing will be limited to 50 people at a time. If you are attending, please remember to bring your masks, maintain 6 feet, and REFRAIN FROM HUGGING AND KISSING.
Marie Jacob was a very giving person who didn't like to see things go to waste. To continue her legacy of giving, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a small donation to her home church in Haiti.
We created a GatheringUs memorial to celebrate the life of Marie Odette Jacob. Collecting your stories and memories here will offer us great comfort. As we plan virtual and in person gatherings, we will share details here. Thank you for contributing to this lasting memorial.

In Spanish we call our Godmother βMadrina,β in French βMarraine,β and in Haitian Creole βMarraineβ with the term of endearment being βNennennβ.
Odette fulfilled her sacramental duties as Nennenn to those she baptized as well as those she did not baptize. She helped raised many nieces and nephews and helped many others that crossed her path.
Our beloved Nennenn (Odette), en paz decanse (rest in peace), took her sacrament as a Godmother with great commitment and responsibility.
Cols (Ricot) would often mention and act as if he was appalled that anyone beside himself would call his Godmother βNennennβ.
He would say:
βSheβs my Nennenn, I donβt understand everybody else calls her Nennennβ.
Well too bad for him because once you got to know her, she would also become your Nennenn with or without an official church baptism. Even my mother-in-law Adrienne would sometimes call her Nennenn.
Thank you Pascale, Dominique and Françoise for sharing your mom with us all. And thank you Cols for sharing your Nennenn with the rest of us.
Love you, Nennenn

Nan yon anviwònman relijye oswa tradisyonèl, yon Marenn oswa Parenn se yon moun ki chwazi sèvi kòm yon relijye yon konseye ak / oswa gadyen timoun nan si paran yo pa alantou pou pran swen timoun nan.
An panyòl nou rele Marenn nou an "Madrina", an franse "Marraine", ak an kreyòl ayisyen "Marraine" ak tèm endearment se "Nennenn".
Odette te akonpli devwa sakreman li yo kòm Nennenn pou moun li te batize yo ansanm ak moun li pa t batize yo. Li te ede leve anpil nyès ak neve e li te ede anpil lòt moun ki te travèse chemen li.Mezanmi Nennenn nou an (Odette), en paz decanse (rès nan lapè), te pran Sentsèn li kòm yon Marenn avèk anpil angajman ak responsablite.
Cols (Ricot) ta souvan mansyone ak aji tankou si li te pè pou nenpòt moun ki bò kote tèt li ta rele Marenn li "Nennenn".
Li ta di:
"Li se Nennenn mwen, mwen pa konprann tout lòt moun rele li Nennenn".Oke twò move pou l 'paske yon fwa ou te vin konnen li, li ta vin Nennenn ou tou avèk oswa san yon batèm legliz ofisyèl. Menm manman-an-lwa Adrienne ta pafwa rele l 'Nennenn.
Mèsi Pascale, Dominique ak Françoise pou pataje manman ou avèk nou tout. Ak mèsi Cols pou pataje Nennenn ou ak rès la nan nou.
Renmen ou, Nennee

I canβt remember when it started but my aunt Odette became affectionately known as my nennenn and before you I realize it every kid and adult started calling her nennenn. I knew I had a mother butuntil I met my mother in 76, I only had nennenn who loved me, fed me, cared and nurtured me and even while she was caring for other nieces and nephews and later her own children; I was always her first born. She did not give birth to me but she gave me life. We all have a mother but Iβve always felt special because God blessed me with two; Adou and nennenn. I love her, cherish her and will miss her all the days of my life. less
I feel so empty inside. I really donβt know how Iβm supposed to go on without you in my life. Not being able to hear or see you again. I know I was your pain in the butt but you enjoyed and loved it. I love you so much mommy-Forever πβ€οΈ
I have unlimited memories of my mother, but one that is very dear to my heart is the dance i shared with her. I will cherish this for the rest of my days. I love you more Mom. π π
