Especially during the last 5 years in Sarasota, Marylin and I became very close. She was my friend, my Mom, my supporter and my best buddy to go out with to enjoy life. We spent great time together by going to concerts, movies, theaters, and of course dining and shopping. Among her favorite places to visit were Sarasota Orchestra, West-coast Black Theater troupe, The historic Asolo Theater, Cinebistro and Symphony on the Sand.
Every weekend, even during Covid lockdown, I would get from Marilyn the Ticket, a section of Sarasota's local newspaper with the latest entertainment news. I used to joke it was a Ticket to nowhere since were on lockdown but still was touched by her kindness. I always admired how she enjoyed meaningful entertainment.
Marylin also was the most stylish and classy women I've ever met. And the brightest part of her daily outfit always was her amazingly unique earrings. Together we shared our love of fashion, art, style, and good tasty food.
Marylin was smart, funny, optimistic, fearless and trusteful! She found the key to happiness and she was passing it on to her friends and family across generations. Mariyn's happiness attracted everyone, and I and my family and friends who met Marylin were touched forever by her encouraging attitude and love.

She was a fearless supporter of her friends and was always available for advice and having a good time. Marilyn is singularly for my having a place in Tuckerton that I love and continue to enjoy. She was also an avid and fierce bridge player.
Rest in peace my dear dear friend.

Your Mom will live forever in your hearts. From the first time that I met her, until the last visit with her in Sarasota, were filled with stories and her bubbly laughter. My only regret is that I have no pictures with her, but I'll forever hold her dearly in my Spirit. Rest in Peace Marilyn as your light will continue to shine. Kingsley and Gregory, I'll keep you lifted up in prayer as you continue to be Strong in the Lord and in the Power of His Might. I Love you in the Lord. Cheryl Johnson less

I am saddened by the loss of a wonderful person that I considered a dear friend. I have so many memories, traveling together to bridge tournaments, spending time in Tuckerton N. J. And N.Y I will always be grateful for the warmth and caring that Marilyn exhibited when I had a fire I my home. She opened her doors and welcomed me to share her home and family. Marilyn loved her family. She was generous with her love and devotion. I will truly miss her! My love to Kingsley , Gregory and the rest of the family!

My thoughts and prayers are with Michelle, Kingsley, Gregory and the rest of the family. I still can't believe that Marilyn has left us--she was always so cheery and fun. I first met Marilyn when her beloved granddaughter Michelle brought me "home" to Tuckerton for a July 4th weekend (the first of many). I will always remember how welcoming and loving Marilyn was to me. She could really make you feel special and Marilyn continued to make me feel that way whenever or wherever I saw or talked to her. I always remember admiring how close the whole family was, but especially the bond between Marilyn and her sister. At the impressionable age of 19 I remember hoping and praying that I would have that same strong relationship with my sister. And I'm eternally grateful that thanks to Marilyn (and Jule and Kingsley) I found my second sister in Michelle.
Marilyn was more than a good hostess, you could tell that she truly cared. Years later in Sarasota she could still make me smile just by seeing her and she always had us laughing and having fun. She will be missed but I do know that her generous spirit and love of life will live on in Michelle, Anthony, Kingsley, Gregory and the rest of the family. And she can rest easier knowing that I will brush up on bridge so that Michelle can continue the family legacy! less
