Mac Keogh Ferguson, son of Patricia McFarlane and Eduard Keogh, was born in Spokane Washington on 04 June 1943, passed away in Palo Alto, CA, on Tuesday 26 November 2019, at the age of 76.
Mac grew up in Seattle, Washington, and left for Southern California on a full-ride scholarship to Claremont Men's College. While an undergraduate, he met Mae West, won the equivalent of a year's tuition in Las Vegas, and was the tall, arm candy escort for young starlets on the Hollywood scene. He earned his MBA from Seattle University while he worked at Boeing Aerospace.
After leaving Boeing, Mac worked for Crowley Maritime, the Washington State Ferries, and later founded SureWay Incineration, Washington state’s first medical waste incineration company. He retired early and was the apartment manager at the Rainbow Apartments in Mountain View, CA, where he made lifelong friends with other tenants and neighbors.
Mac is survived by his two children, Kenzie and Ross, and is remembered by many for his kindness, generosity, and irreverent views of the world.
Ross and Kenzie created a memorial to celebrate the life of Mac Ferguson. Mac had an adventurous spirit and an unconventional view of the world. Collecting your stories and memories here will offer us great comfort and help us remember the funny and sometimes fantastical stories he loved to share.
We are planning a gathering in Palo Alto on 07 December, and an informal get together in Seattle sometime after that.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please buy yourself a special bottle of something and raise a glass with friends.
Thank you for contributing to this lasting memorial.
