OBITUARY
Lori Byg died on May 4, 2019 in Dayton, Ohio nine months after she was diagnosed with Stage III ovarian cancer. Lori was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and will be dearly missed. She was an incredible psychotherapist, always seeking to guide those around her through the dark moments in their lives. She was full of joy and brought so much laughter into the lives of those who knew her. Lori was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and will be dearly missed. She was an incredible psychotherapist, always seeking to guide those around her through the dark moments in their lives. She was full of joy and brought so much laughter into the lives of those who knew her. She also had a deep love for mother nature and spent much of her free time outdoors, hiking, gardening, or riding horses. In keeping with this love of the outdoors, she asked that her ashes be scattered at the Glen Forest Memorial Cemetery Memorial Scattering Garden in Yellow Springs so that she could be among the wildflowers.
Please help honor her life and her memory with a gift to one of these organizations that were meaningful to Lori. We hope this will be a way to continue spreading all of the love and light she brought into our lives.
A few of my precious memories with Lori include being pregnant together, and doing co-therapy while pregnant; walking on the bike path with strollers, hanging with our girls in the hot spots of the Yampa River; enjoying parades on Lincoln Avenue, with... moreA few of my precious memories with Lori include being pregnant together, and doing co-therapy while pregnant; walking on the bike path with strollers, hanging with our girls in the hot spots of the Yampa River; enjoying parades on Lincoln Avenue, with the girls racing for candy; enjoying the music at the Botanical Gardens, while the girls danced on the lawn; birthday parties, Art in the Park, Easter egg hunts at Howelson and so many other events; alternating childcare while one of us saw clients; learning about astrology and ultimately meeting Lynn; sharing special meals – the most intriguing aromas emerged from whatever she was cooking; Montessori days with Lisa Radford; spiritual group with Sister Faith and learning about the Universe with Pastor Tim Selby; BW3; watching the girls drive the old pick up around the soybean fields; sitting by a fire and/or sharing a cup of tea while sharing visions….
As I reflect on what made Lori such a unique and precious friend, I think about her smile and laugh, her sheer delight in things big and small, her genuinely warm and welcoming spirit. Her perspective was always thoughtful and interesting, generally broader than my own. She didn’t seek the spotlight. She had a quiet way of exuding excellence. Her light was bright for whoever was fortunate enough to cross her path. She was so compassionate. While not actively teaching, we learned so much from her: a slightly different twist on things, how to live in harmony with our environment and how to be in relationship with others. She had such a wise presence. She once gave me a laughing Buddha – I came to see it as the quintessence of her.
