Karen was born in Memphis, TN. Lakeside HS in Atlanta is her alma mater. After a couple of semesters at NC State, she worked a few years as a police dispatcher for the Cary, NC PD. On a visit to Vienna, VA she landed a job in "Operations" with American Airlines at DCA. When American consolidated Operations to 3 US locations, she selected DFW, and lived in Arlington, TX for the majority of her life. Karen loved animals of all kinds...mainly because they gave her unconditional love, asked for nothing in return, and they never misinterpreted what she meant, or read into what she said. She especially loved dogs, cats and horses...she even had two Love Birds.
Although she lived in a condo, she leased a pasture with a small barn (more of a largish shed) where she kept and cared for her two Peruvian Paso horses (Catearda and Azavache - I'm sure I misspelled the names), as well as any number of dogs. Folks in the area apparently knew that a humane place to get rid of a dog was to toss them over the fence into her pasture. She never turned an animal away. She drove a pickup truck and could throw bales of hay as good as any man...and she DID surprise men very often when she went to load up!
Her animals WERE her children, and her job existed to support taking care of those children.
She was a person who was genuinely kind...down to the bone kind. Her animals loved her back at that same level.
Karen is survived by her mother: Mary Blanche Posey Arnold; her brother & sister-in-law: Duke & Tina Arnold; and her nephews and niece: Jake, Gage and Hayley Arnold.
Karen was my big sister, had me by 5.5 years. She was bigger than me only until I was about 11 years old. She was bigger than me only until I was about 11 years old. But, she always, ALWAYS had my back, cared about everything that had to do with me, and loved me as unconditionally as her animals. The reality is that I lost my sister several years ago. It has been very painful to watch her body and mind deteriorate to the point that it did. It brings tears of joy to my eyes as I picture her running up to Daddy and giving him a big ole hug, which wouldn't be possible without Jesus! THAT is why I rejoice at her transition from here to the eternal. less
