The mission of Best Friends Animal Society is to bring about a time when there are No More Homeless Pets. The organization does this by helping end the killing in America's animal shelters through building community programs and partnerships all across the United States.

"Animals are more than ever a test of our character, of mankind's capacity for empathy and for decent, honorable conduct and faithful stewardship. We are called to treat them with kindness, not because they have rights or power or some claim to equality, but in a sense because they don't; because they all stand unequal and powerless before us."

Dianne Pehoviack was born March 27, 1949 and passed away October 12, 2020 at the age of 71.
Linda's professional calling was as a registered nurse in both the hospital and school environment. She lovingly served her church as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. She supported her children in every way possible, from leadership positions with Girl and Boy Scouts to succeeding her mother and preceeding her daughter as Honored Queen of Job's Daughters. She would never miss either a school or sporting activity for her grandchildren. It could be as near as Foutain Valley or as far as Sydney, Australia; she was going to "cheer them on." Throughout her life Linda filled every day with love and compassion.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Herman William Provence and mother, Jewel Rose Provence.
Linda is survived by her husband, Richard Pehoviack; daughter, Laurie Hinnant; son Rick W. Pehoviack; grandson, JD Hinnant; granddaughter, Whitney Boes; and granddaughter, Amy Hinnant.

Grammy touched the lives of many, and she did more than just touch mine. When I was a kid she would stay on the sand at the beach with me to collect seashells because I was afraid of the water. It got to the point where we enjoyed this so much that she made a memory bowl where we put all of our seashells, today I placed one of those shells to be with Grammy forever. Grammy also loved the winter time, we used to always sit by her fire and drink a cup of warm coco and enjoy the peace in our life. Never once did I hear Grammy complain, she was just that type of person, a giver who never expected to receive. She was a best friend to all, and so much more than a grandma to me, t I would like to share a poem that I wrote for Grammy.
My dearest, Grammy.
You lit up every ounce of darkness with your smile,
stood steady in times of trial,
You graced everyone with your presence,
And always put up with my nonsense.
You held my hand when I was hurt,
Made me laugh when all I wanted to do was cry,
You embraced the fact that I was an introvert,
And always looked at this world with a forgiving eye.
You were compassionate, so much more than most people deserved.
Your love was unwavering to all.
You never complained, even cancer did not seem to be your biggest concern.
You lived with such peace, like a cup of hot chocolate and a year's first snowfall.
I don’t want to imagine a life without you.
But I am thankful for the memories that I have, despite the fact that time flew.
I know that you are here with me.
Even if it's just in the wind that blows through the tree.
I will forever look for you in the windchimes.
In the shells that lie on shore.
Or when the flowers begin to bloom, just before spring time.
Until I walk with you once more.
