Kehinde Temitayo “Kenny” Olayeye (née Afonja) a devoted Christian, daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend entered into rest on November 6, 2019 in Austin, TX at the age of 48.
Kenny is survived by her parents and 4 siblings.
HER EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Kenny was born in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria on August 16, 1971. She attended the University of Ibadan Staff School for her elementary education after which she went to the Federal Government Girls College, Sagamu and St. Louis Grammar School for secondary school. She graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1994 with a BSc in Agriculture Engineering.
She met her husband Olugbenga Olayeye in 1988 at the age of 17 while he was a student of Pharmacy at the University of Ibadan and they married 9 years later in 1997. They are blessed with three children.
HER PROFESSIONAL LIFE
After her degree at Ife, Kenny completed her National Youth Service (NYSC) at the International Institute For Tropical Agriculture. She then moved to Lagos and began a fifteen year career at the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture retiring as a Senior Engineer. Kenny was also CEO of her own company, Nobits LTD.
In 2016, the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia where Kenny was looking forward to a second career as a child Psychologist helping students with learning challenges.
HER RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST
Kenny loved the Lord with all her heart. She gave her life to Christ early on in her life during her early secondary school years. She served diligently at Christ Love Fellowship at the university, as member of the Winners Chapel where she volunteered with the Bible Study Fellowship as a Children’s Leader and also at the World Outreach Church for All Nations (WOCFAN), Lawrenceville, Georgia. An active and dedicated member of WOCFAN, she volunteered in the church seamlessly serving as a liaison for over 11 church ministries and taking on special projects. Initiating and launching the “Pastor’s Newsletter and the WOCFAN 101 New Members Assimilation Process and also greatly involved in the organization of “Jesus With Skin On” (a Thanksgiving Day outreach project), her volunteer activities exponentially enhanced the church experience for all members, visitors and the community. Her WOCFAN family remember her as a loving, kind and driven woman of God who exemplified Love and Grace to all she met. Young and old alike, she touched hearts and left each one better having been around her.
Kenny will be remembered by all, as a generous, witty and dedicated individual who loved people. Her bright smile and endearing personality will not be forgotten.
