June Roberts of Dallas, Texas, passed away at the age of 86 on July 3, 2020. Doris June (Edington) Roberts was born on June 21, 1934 in Oklahoma to Ethel and Edgar Edington. However, her family later moved to Arkansas and she spent most of her childhood in the small town of Hartford. After graduating high school, June moved to Dallas and started working for The Frito Company (before it became Frito Lay), a job she enjoyed greatly and in her later years would remember fondly. On April 25, 1959, June married the love of her life, Lanny Roberts. Eventually, June became a stay-at-home Mom to their four children, although when needed she was always welcomed backed at Frito Lay. June loved being around children and her house was always full of family and friends. She made everyone feel very welcome and she enjoyed being the perfect host! Everyone who visited remembers how special June made them feel and how they would look forward to their next visit with “Granny” or “Aunt June”. Eventually June and Lanny retired to Gun Barrel City, Texas in a house with a beautiful lake view where they enjoyed entertaining their family and having their grandchildren and great-grandchildren stay with them often. In addition to spending time with her family, June loved to garden, work with her plants in her greenhouse, and she relaxed by reading books. After Lanny died in 2015, she would affectionately remember all the trips they had taken over their 56 years of marriage and how much fun they had and all the different places they had seen. June was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Ethel Edington, her brother David Edington, her brother Wayne Edington, her grandson Daniel Roberts, and by her husband Lanny Roberts. She is survived by: her sisters, Wanda Ward, Pat Wilson (Wayne) and Hazel Gregory (Del); her children, Jim Roberts (Letty), Cynthia Woodfin (Wayne), Stephen Roberts (Patty) and Christopher Roberts; her grandchildren, Kristi Drager (Chris), Candice Richardson (Ben), Amber Woodfin (Jared), Kelsy Curtis (Lucas), Halie Woodfin, and Jimmy Lee Roberts; her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Cameron (Justin), Avery Cameron, Riley Cameron, Garrett Drager, Jarred Drager, and Rosalyn Curtis; and her great-great-grandchildren, Jasper and Cooper Browne; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life is being planned for July 25, 2020.
