OBITUARY

Jon was born to Patsy Jo (Kelly) & Howard Richmond Clearman, on February 12th, 1956, in Biloxi, Mississippi. He left this world on Monday, March 18th at 11:57 am, in his home with his son Sean and daughter in law Nicole. He passed peacefully with them, after a long struggle with the brutal illness that is COPD. His last moments were spent having his hand held, his head stroked. He left this world on Monday, March 18th at 11:57 am, in his home with his son Sean and daughter in law Nicole. He passed peacefully with them, after a long struggle with the brutal illness that is COPD. His last moments were spent having his hand held, his head stroked. He smiled quite a few times as he left his body, looking to somewhere we could not see, without struggle or fear. His firstborn son Ryan, grandchildren Orion, Jonah, Natalie and Maxwell were all able to see & touch him, to say goodbye in the best ways they knew how.

Jon left behind so, so many people who loved him dearly. These include his first son, Ryan Christopher Clearman & wife Rebecca Joy, granddaughter Marvel Renee, grandson Magnus Van, younger son Sean Michael Clearman & wife Nicole Lynn, grandsons Orion Alexander, Jonah Lee, Maxwell Archer, & granddaughter Natalie Ruth. His brothers, Barry Kent Clearman & wife Cindy Anne (Nicholas Jonathan Douglas & Kelly Anne Douglas, Jason Kent Clearman & Amanda Lynn Kuhlmann) Cary L. Clearman & Kathleen C. McGlashan (Cassandra J. Henry, Chelsea L. Clearman). And not least, Tinkerbell, his beloved Corgi "daughter".

He touched so very many lives, it is impossible to count how many were affected by his endless positivity & sense of humor. Even in to his last days, he joked & smiled through his pain. He never failed to see the good life had to offer, & constantly said "It'll all work out just fine". He was well known for his patient & understanding nature. Even while struggling, he was compassionate to the struggles of others, never comparing & always willing to lend an ear, a shoulder, his heart & his words of wisdom.

Jon's faith grew in his final months, he was baptized here in his home by his chaplain, Jen. He had always believed he was being 'led' in life, that if he flowed with it, things would work out. He was so graceful in rolling with life's punches, even when they were particularly hard ones. Jon was always quick with a kind word or a joke, for everyone. His charisma remained to the end. The respect & kindness he showed those around him was as consistent as it was genuine. His bravery was an inspiration to all those around him.

One of his greatest joys in life was traveling, his trip back to Washington from Alabama with his son Sean was particularly fulfilling for him. He was a self-proclaimed 'couch surfing pro', & said that he still was, even when he settled in to his last home. He also greatly loved motorcycles & cars, even if he wasn't particularly skilled with them- he earned the very fitting nickname of "Crash" quite honestly. His last hobbies were solitaire & word searches, there was hardly a time when he wasn't flicking cards or crossing out words.

We are incredibly grateful for the Fransiscian Hospice Care staff. Without them, we would have been lost. We were able to provide excellent care in home, their assistance made a comfortable passing surrounded by family possible for Jon. Being able to be together until the end, his children and grandchildren close by, was such a comfort for Jon. We can't thank them enough. His home nurse Bev, bath aide Summerlove, & Chaplain Jen went above & beyond to give him unparalleled care & comfort. Jen provided him a sense of peace, Bev gave him her utmost attention, & Summerlove helped him retain his dignity throughout the end of his trip here on Spaceship Earth. They were such an incredible blessing to our family.

Jon made a whole-body donation of his human suit to Medcure.org. In 8-12 weeks, we will be given the cremated remains, as well as information as to what research his body contributed to. His ashes will be spread in a private ceremony near Mt. Rainier with Pink Floyd playing, as per his wishes. We will share the research information here for any interested people.

Jon didn't want us to mourn, and said "I don't want a funeral or wake or anything like that. If ya'll wanna have a party & a keg, be my guest." As such, a "Going Away" party will be held in Jon's memory on Sunday, April 7th from 12-5pm at:
