Jeffrey Arvid Larson, 60, of Katy, Texas, passed away Sunday morning January 31st, 2021, surrounded by his six children and loving wife.
Jeff was born on September 23rd, 1960 in Menominee, Wisconsin to Arvid Oscar Larson and Sharon Kay Larson. Jeff grew up in Manistique, Michigan the eldest of eight children. He attended Manistique Highschool where he participated in basketball, football, tennis, and track. After high school Jeff attended Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan where he enjoyed participating in Winter Carnival, frequenting The Ambassador, and being a member of both the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society before he graduated in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. After college Jeff moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he worked as a chemical engineer for Sohio (which later became British Petroleum) and met his soon to be wife Maura Connor. Jeff and Maura married in June of 1986 and moved to Lima, Ohio where they bought their first home together and started their family. While living in Lima, Jeff continued his education at Case Western Reserve University where he obtained his Masters of Business Administration. After welcoming six beautiful children, Jeff accepted a new role with British Petroleum in Belle Chasse, Louisiana in 1998 where he enjoyed introducing his family to jazz music, New Orleans culture, Mardi Gras parades, and incredible Cajun food such as jambalaya, red beans and rice and crawfish boils. A few years later the family moved to Katy, Texas where Jeff worked in Houston. There they enjoyed rodeos, bbqs, and of course football. Jeff was very involved in coaching and supporting his children in all aspects of their lives but especially loved watching his children play sports and was always the loudest in the stands. Jeff was extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments. From Texas the family moved to Bolingbrook, Illinois in 2005 where Jeff worked as the US Fuels Business support manager. He and Maura became empty nesters in 2017 and Jeff retired from BP. After a few months of retirement, he was ready to work again and accepted a position as Lead Senior Category Manager at LyondellBasell back down to warmer weather in Katy, Texas. Jeff always had the strongest work ethic and loved providing for his family. He was an amazing brother and son, who loved spending time up north at the cabin on Crooked lake whether he was hunting with his father and brothers in the winter or reminiscing around the bonfire with the whole family. His kids have so many fond memories of playing board games, watching movies, camping trips and his constant support in their lives. Even throughout his two-year battle with cancer he was able to travel to support his youngest on the football field, his eldest get married, two of his middle children buy their first homes, and countless other adventures. The family was immensely thankful to be able to be together with Jeff in his final moments, and that he was able to pass in the comfort of his own home.
