Jeanne ‘Nena’ McCreary, our precious mom, wife, Mimi gained her angel wings December 5th, 2020 as God called her home. She was born May 13, 1948 to parents Pete and Elise Giacomo in Sapulpa Oklahoma. She was the 2nd youngest of 5 children.
Nena faced many serious health challenges throughout her life but was always an incredible example of strength and determination (aka. stubbornness), always persevering and beating the odds. No matter the circumstance, she never complained and her zest for life never faded.
She grew up in Sapulpa, attending Sacred Heart where she was very popular and had lots of friends. After graduating High School, she moved to Stillwater and attended Oklahoma State University where she was a proud member of Zeta Tau Alpha. It was in Stillwater; she met and married her husband Michael McCreary and began their family with the birth of their first child (Kim). It was not long before they moved to Tulsa where they welcomed Stacey & Jeff. Work opportunities eventually brought them to DFW, where they again added to their family with the birth of Lindsey. They have resided there since, making many memories and friends along the way.
The simplest pleasures in life brought Nena the greatest joys. She loved the outdoors whether it was camping, fishing or a sporting events (especially if her children or grandchildren were involved). She loved loud family gatherings whenever possible and enjoyed cooking, crafting, puzzling, or taking in a good Hallmark movie.
Her dedication to family was evident as it brought so much joy and purpose to life. She was the perfect example of what mother/grandmother/great-grandmother stands for. She was devoted, supportive, patient, warm-hearted, loving, caring, kind, selfless and ALWAYS our biggest cheerleader. Her love is never-ending as it will continue to live on in each of us.
Jeanne leaves behind a large, loving family and many friends who adored her. She will be forever cherished and remembered by her husband of 49 years, Michael McCreary; her children, Kimberly Atchley (Chad), Stacey McCreary, Jeffrey McCreary (Sabrina), Lindsey McCreary; grandchildren Jacob Atchley (Shannon), Jordan Atchley, Alexia McCreary and Trysta Shead; great grandchild Easton Atchley. She will be missed greatly by her brother William “Bill” Giacomo, sisters, Mary Louise Boyne (Don), Jan Scott (Randy), Phyllis Schlottman (Bernie); and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends who loved her dearly. Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, Pete & Elise Giacomo.
