Jean Claire Veach, age 82, passed in her sleep on Sunday, March 7th, 2021. Her final days were blessed with visits by her children and grandchildren.
Jean and her sister Mary were born to Jay and Grace Chatterton in Portland, Oregon. She attended Linfield College before obtaining her nursing degree from Oregon Health Sciences University.
She devoted much of her life to the service of others as a nurse and in hospice care and raised 3 children with her first husband Don Kludas.
She was known for her love of animals, and passed that on to her children. A menageri of pets graced our family home over the years, including dogs, cats, mice, birds and even a newt. Framed pictures of grand-kittens and grand-puppies decorated her nightstand along with those of her children in her final home.
Jean was a kind, gracious and generous woman. She was a loving and nurturing mother and maintained many strong frienships from her days in nursing school and with relatives over the years. She showed great interest in the lives of loved-ones by learning everything she could about their interests, and had a way of always making everyone feel welcome and heard. She touched the lives of all who knew her.
Jean is survived by children Cathey Writz, Renee Pace, and Dave DeLuca, and grandchildren Ryan and Haley Writz.
She will be laid to rest through natural burial at River View Cemetery in Portland.
