Jim Georg was the eldest son of Rose Mary and Newton Georg. He was born in Johnstown PA, and lived there until his family moved to Bethel Park, PA. He met and married Lilian there, and together they raised three girls. The couple also lived in King of Prussia and Downingtown, PA and in Middletown Springs, VT before moving to Wasilla, AK. Jim graduated from Penn State and went on to have a career in the insurance industry. Jim had a wonderful ability to experience joy, primarily through immersing himself fully in doing what he loved, spending time with the people who loved him, and playing at least as hard as he worked. One of his mottoes was, "You need to suck the marrow out of the bones of life." We are sure that he did that. He died peacefully at home with his family around him.
Jim is survived by his wife Lil Georg, daughters Lola Georg, Renee Georg, and Kristi McFarland, brothers Tom Georg and Joe Georg, grandchildren Erika Stannard and Tyler Pugliese, and great-grandchildren Ellie Stannard and Jamie Stannard. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Dave Georg, and his granddaughter Miranda Pugliese.
Jim's ashes will be interred at the family farm in Davidsville, PA. The family will have a small private memorial service in Wasilla, AK. We hope that this site will serve as our larger gathering in remembrance of Jim and his life.
We would love it if you could share a photograph of Jim, or of you and Jim together. Please also share a story that might go with the photograph. We are happy to collect quotes, stories, photos, or any other remembrances. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Foundation for Free Flight. Thank you.
