Consistent with the vision of their founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.
St. Jude’s strives to be the world leader in advancing the treatment and prevention of catastrophic diseases in children, by providing outstanding patient care; conducting basic, translational and clinical research designed to elucidate biological mechanisms, understand disease pathogenesis, improve diagnosis, enhance treatment outcome, prevent diseases and minimize adverse consequences of treatment; and by educating health care and scientific research professionals. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. less

Mrs. Gisela was always so kind and interested in our kids and overall well being, she especially loved our dog Buddy and helped out tremendously in his old age and our hectic family life. She would add little angles and flowers to Buddy's grave routinely, and always tell me "you probably think I'm crazy" with a little giggle and arm hug. I have many of memories of Mrs. Gisela that will always remind me of her kindness and willingness to help others. My Family will miss her dearly. God Bless and rest in peace my dear neighbor, friend, and role model!

Gisela was the sister I never had. We met in Berlin in 1963 and shared a long friendship ever since. I left Berlin in 1964 but Gisela visited my mother a lot until she left Berlin. They shared a close bond that lasted a lifetime. While Garrett was on a remote AF assignment Gisela returned to Berlin for that time to stay with her family . She
visited my mother often, my mother would babysit “ little” Garrett while Gisela helped out in her parents bakery business. She helped my mother fill the void in her life and I was grateful to Gisela forever. Gisela was kind, a gentle soul and loved by all that knew her.
I will miss her cakes that she baked for me and my husband for our birthdays with sweet little poems and lovely letters, and dried flowers with evergreen from her yard. Sometimes she labeled the cakes “ from the divas bakery,” showing her subtle humor.
I could go on for a long time but then I have had the privilege of her friendship for a long time and I feel so very blessed that I was fortunate to have met her way back . It is only now that she is gone, but her memory and our memories will live in me until we meet again.
RIP my dear friend ! less

We bonded over both being from Germany and we were friends from that spring until she died. Whe I met her Gisela she didn't have a firm grasp on her English so we practiced all the time. In Florida sandals are what you wear all spring and summer so I took Gisela shopping for a pair of sandals. Those were in the days when you were waited upon few by the salespeople measuring your foot etc. whe Gisela had chosen her shoes and they had been put in the box the salesperson asked "Will this be cash or charge"? Gisela thought about it for a while and then said "Dollars." There are lots of little stories like that as she learned to live in America and I cherish those memories. less

I considered Gisela a part of our family and will miss her very much. I apologize for the multiple entries but I did not know that when you hit "return" on the iPad it ended the entry.

When I first met her I felt an instant connection with her as she was whimsical and dreamy like me. She was the best future mother-in-law! She was a wonderful and nurturing grandmother to Garrett’s girls. She was born in Berlin, and she and Garrett’s dad met there as his dad was in the US Air Force. Garrett’s dad learned to speak fluent German, and she learned English. They were married for 56 years. We love and miss you Gigi! 💗😢🍄🧚♂️🦋 less
