OBITUARY
Our colleague and friend, Eric Oswald, passed away away on March 19. Eric was with QED for 9 years and will be remembered for his great energy, enthusiasm and spirit.Our hearts and condolences are with his family and loved ones.
QED is a family. We spend most of our lives together! We have a special bond because we have been through so many of life's ups and downs together. Eric was a very special part of our family. He was a true friend and mentor, always caring so much about how we all felt. Remember how lovely he was with Cathy? Our Ops Team is heartbroken because he was such an important part of our identity. He truly cared about us. And no one has ever made me laugh so hard! I will have those memories forever, and he will be forever missed by all of us! less

There were no topics of conversation that he didn't embrace head on- when he spoke you listened, in part because of his booming voice but mostly because he offered the best insight. He faithfully brought chocolate in to share with everyone simply because it made him happy to do so. Eric was good in his soul and it was visible in the way he carried himself. I will miss our conversations and his larger than life presence at QED. less

Whether it was chasing a new polishing formula or just eliminating the awful smell of the captured post process water before we disposed of... moreEric was always willing to share his knowledge and expertise to help solve a problem no matter how large or small. Whether it was chasing a new polishing formula or just eliminating the awful smell of the captured post process water before we disposed of it, he always dove in head first and gave everything he had. He was comfortable talking to and working with scientists and technicians, and I think he liked the techs better! 😉
Eric's smile and enthusiasm for QED will be sorely missed. less

I will always think of his voice and his smile when I think of Eric. There was nothing more amusing then listening to the Eric's banter back and forth in the lab. There was no way to not hear it, as they were right on the other side of my wall. Every... moreI will always think of his voice and his smile when I think of Eric. There was nothing more amusing then listening to the Eric's banter back and forth in the lab. There was no way to not hear it, as they were right on the other side of my wall. Every day we would hear Eric's booming voice, so loud we would think there was something wrong. Lisa, Jon and I would look up and quickly realize nothing was wrong. It was just Eric. We would look at each other and chuckle. I will miss that the most.
He was larger than life, always smiling, always bringing in treats. He was a genuine and kind person. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. less

No stealth to Eric, you always knew when he was in the room. From a booming voice, to an engaging smile, to a sincere interest for what a person needed, his presence was always felt. No job he didn’t excel at, no task he wouldn’t tackle. Each step he took, he took with velocity and determination, a blur going down the hall was inevitably Eric. I miss him, and the energy he brought to everything he did and everyone he encountered.
