Edward Francis Selwinder passed away on January 25, 2020, at age 89. Ed was born in New Underwood, South Dakota on March 26, 1931. Ed was born to parents Edward and Frances, he was the first of 5 children followed by Robert, Carl, Frances, and Kathy.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carl Selwinder and first wife Lois Selwinder, who he shared 43 years of marriage with until Lois passed away to her heavenly calling.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife Carol Selwinder and stepsons Chris, Jonathan and Micah. His brother Robert Selwinder and wife Barb, their daughter Becky and husband. His sister Fran. Lois' son, Alden Leiter and wife Lesa, their two sons and three grandchildren. His granddaughter Rhonda Grafmyer and husband Marty, their 3 children, and 4 grandchildren. His grandson Geoff Woods and wife Robyn and their son.
Ed graduated from high school in 1950 and loved being active in school activities. He enjoyed art, playing clarinet in the school band and being on the school basketball team. He was also the Senior Class President...needless to say, he was very popular.
Ed's life focus was his dedication to his heavenly father Jehovah. From the time he learned about Jehovah, Ed showed dedication by regularly attending meetings, even though the nearest Kingdom Hall was 90 miles away. After learning the truth he and his family moved to Rapid City to be closer to the Kingdom Hall. He always valued being a part of the congregation. On December 7th, 1957, Ed along with his entire family were baptized. From that point on Jehovah was his priority. Living a simple life he enjoyed being a painter and being a full-time minister and a loyal part of the Christian Congregation.
Ed was a faithful servant of Jehovah for over 60 years. During that time he had many privileges including key roles in the congregation, the circuit, and the district while serving Jehovah completely. The most outstanding thing about Ed was his deep love for God and devotion to his heavenly Father, Jehovah. He constantly cared for the needs of his spiritual brothers and sisters and was truly loved and appreciated by them. Our dear brother will be missed but we are confident that we will see him just around the corner in Paradise.
