Grandma June is and forever will be my hero. The strongest woman I will ever know, Grandma June took on life's most difficult challenges with a reserved grace and absolute faith in our Lord.

Grandma is the one who drove me to my dentist appointments... moreGrandma June is and forever will be my hero. The strongest woman I will ever know, Grandma June took on life's most difficult challenges with a reserved grace and absolute faith in our Lord.

Grandma is the one who drove me to my dentist appointments and the very first to see me without my braces. Grandma is the one who taught me how to cook simply and she always encouraged me to explore my creativity in the kitchen. Grandma June was my best and most honest critic. She is the one who taught me the PROPER way to clean a home top to bottom. I will always remember our long, philosophical conversations over the Bible and life in general. We would sit in her back room and watch America's Got Talent and old movies together. We'd sing together. Get scolded with one of her 'Knock It Off' looks during Christmas Candle-Lit service; when we kept blowing each other's candles out and giggling. (For the record, that was Uncles, Dad and Granddaughters goofing off during service and we were lucky the scowl was all we got...) Christmases in the back room that her boys built, wood stove raging way too hot but we didn't care. Grandma drove me to my first job interview. Grandma pushed me when I went back to school for my education degree. She let me borrow her beautiful pearls for my wedding. She shared her Banana Bread recipe more than a few times with me and I always forgot. That gave us an excuse to bake together again. She was at every concert, recital, award ceremony and graduation.

That is what it boils down to. Grandma was ALWAYS there for her family. She loved each one of her children fiercely, her grandchildren unconditionally and her family completely. Her legacy will continue to live on. We will continue to share her story and her memory will never fade. I find comfort in knowing that Grandma is finally at peace and no longer in pain. I know she has earned her reward to be in heaven with all her family who have gone before her.

I owe so much of who I am to you, Grandma June. Thank you for helping to shape me to the woman that I am today. I miss you so much already but I know we will see each other again. I love you, Grandma. See you again soon. less
