There are no easy words to give solace or comfort when we lose a family member, friend or colleague. For those who knew Chris well, worked with him closely and came to respect and like him, there is only the pain of the loss. For those who didn’t know him well: you missed knowing a good man.

Above all he was cheerful and indefatigable in the face of adversity and setbacks. Besides being a successful business leader, Chris was a doting father, a loving brother and son.
We mourn his passing and our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I knew Chris through the dimension of work but he came to be a friend over time. I don’t think it is easy to sum someone up and do that person full justice in a few written words. But if someone asked me, “What was Chris like?”, then the words that come to mind when I think of Chris are: Indefatigable, Steadfast, Risk-taker, Builder, Kind and Fun.
Indefatigable. He simply never gave up. In our four years working together I don’t think I ever heard him once be downbeat. While there were many high points as well as low points as there are in any business building effort, he never seemed to be discouraged by failure. He simply picked himself up and started again. His ability to self generate enthusiasm or the simple ability to have another go at it was remarkable and constantly inspirational to me. Wow, I kept thinking to myself, if Chris can stand back up and take a swing at it again, so can I.
Risk taker. Small companies are hard, fraught with the possibility of failure at every turn, under-resourced and improbable. When Chris joined the team at Cyara it was a much smaller company overall and the UK/EMEA team was the smallest team in the world for Cyara. Chris was a born fearless, risk taker in taking this challenge on.
Steadfast. One thing I admired about Chris was that he never ducked responsibility or accountability. Not once. The hard part about being the business leader in a region is that one sometimes falls short and in the job that Chris held, there is no place to hide at those moments. He never blamed others, never blamed the team, always took it upon himself to chart a course to victory.
Builder. Chris laid out the foundation for our long term success in the UK and EMEA. He brought on good team-mates. He built relationships. He built for the long term.
Kind. He and I were talking about management and leadership one day and the fact that it is not about the leader, it’s about the people you lead. Chris said to me, “I see my job as recognizing what is great in someone before they recognize it and help them to see it in themselves.” Chris poetically expressed what is the essence of servant leadership. He was a kind person who sought to make people stronger and help them learn and grow.
Fun. Chris was fun! I love the picture of us together at Oktoberfest. We met with customers and partners during the day and had a blast in the evenings.
Having traveled with him on business and enjoying some quiet time in a pub or over dinner, he revealed how much he doted on his daughter. He talked about her incessantly and shared stories of her. He loved her dearly -- she should know how much she was loved by her father.
Chris was a great work mate and colleague. He is already sorely missed by all of us at Cyara.

I cannot the number of times Ive laughed at your stories whilst enjoying some form of German beer, or bent your ear at the latest issue - which of course you always had a great response to.
It is truly devastating that we have lost you so young (I bet you never thought you'd hear me to refer to you as young!) and so suddenly and I will never forget you and the time I had the privilege of knowing and learning from you. less

Miss your smile and your gentle nature of always rallying the team together. Was an honour to have known you and so glad I got to hear your wonderful stories. Thank you for introducing me to the Harvey Wallbanger... I will certainly be asking for one when the pubs are open again. Heaven gained another angel. RIP Chris xxxx less
