After bravely facing ovarian cancer for more than five years, Carol Ann Douville passed away at Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission, B.C. on the morning of October 28th, 2019.
Throughout her last weeks, Carol was surrounded by family and friends, and her room was filled with the sounds of classic rock and laughter. Carol will be deeply missed by her son Josh Douville, daughter Rebecca Frederick and son-in-law Mark Frederick, along with her mother Maureen Edwards, brother Gary Edwards and his partner Carolyn Boobyer. There are countless friends whose lives she will continue to touch in memory, including her lifelong childhood friend Suzanne Sinclair.
Born in London, England, Carol emigrated to Canada in the early 90’s. While England would continue to always feel like home to her, she raised two children she was very proud of and created treasured memories right up until her last days. Carol had a supremely green thumb (indicative of the masterpieces she created in even very small spaces) and a knack for making people around her feel loved and supported, whether that be in her personal life or at work. Carol will be remembered most for her openness, warmth, and willingness to support and care for others. Genuine and compassionate with a quick wit and an enduring sense of humour, she will leave a marked absence in the lives of many.
Never one to pass up a chance to pet a stranger’s dog, her family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the BC SPCA (http://support.spca.bc.ca/site/TR/Memorial/General?px=2350664&pg=personal&fr_id=2000). Or that you tell 10 women about the signs of ovarian cancer (https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/health-topics/tw9687), so that others might be spared this challenging journey.
A celebration of life is being planned and her family invites you to join them in remembering Carol in all of her vibrancy.
