We created this memorial to celebrate the life of Barbara Ann Johnston. We can't be together to tell our stories, but it would mean so much to us if you would share them here.

What Barbara cherished most was time with the people she loved. From holiday gatherings and birthday celebrations, soccer games and ice skating performance, to knitting with friends or simply sharing a cup of coffee on the porch.

In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made in Barbara's memory to two organizations she supported.
Team Brownsville in Brownsville, Texas provides humanitarian assistance for asylum seekers, through their "Breakfast/Dinner at the Bridge" programs, and facilitates “La Escuelita en la Banqueta”which provides classes for children awaiting asylum over the Mexican border in Matamoros.

Another organization accepting donations in lieu of flowers is Lewis House.
Barbara also made donations of her hand-knitted creations to the local battered women's shelter in Eagan. Lewis House was among the first shelters in the nation specifically created for women fleeing domestic violence and has been serving the community since the mid 1980's. She brought over a mean lasagna when you moved into your new house. Super taaty. She was really nice. Didn't get to know her very well but from the brief time we spent together I know she was a caring person.
I met Barb many, many years ago when her daughters and my daughters were on the same swim team. We had so many great times spent in the pool balcony just chatting or during the many swim meets we attended - all the way up to Canada and down to Rochester.... moreI met Barb many, many years ago when her daughters and my daughters were on the same swim team. We had so many great times spent in the pool balcony just chatting or during the many swim meets we attended - all the way up to Canada and down to Rochester. We would set up tents at the outdoor meets for the kids or set up a “camping” spot in the gyms during indoor meets. Barb never had anything negative to say. She was always upbeat and positive and always had a smile on her face. She truly loved life and all her family. She will be greatly missed by all. less

She was always there for me, whether it was helping me with school, cheering me on at a game, or just being there when I had a rough day. She was my rock. She helped make me become who I am and I know she will continue to. Gamma was like a second mother to me and I will cherish the memories I have with her for the rest of my life. She was the kind of person that made you feel better when she walked in the room. She would come often to pick up Mimi or Rowan for special one on one time. They would light up at the sight of her. They adored each other. My favorite memory of Barbara is when I went to visit Amanda at the hospital after Isla Jane was born. Barbara met me at the door. Her love and happiness was literally swirling about the room. She was so happy that Amanda and Isla were here and well. The love she felt for her family was pouring from her being. That love never goes away. Keep telling her stories. Know that so many are thinking of you all as you move through this tragic loss. Much love to you all. less

When she couldn't see them off to school, I stood in her place. We only crossed paths once, but I knew right away how much she meant to her family. Isla would proudly show off the beautiful crafts and yummy baked creations that she had made with her beloved Gamma. She was woven into the fabric of their family through her many traditions and acts of pure love. It's easy to see where the Janquarts family's kind hearts and manners come from. Her legacy lives on in all of you. #gonetoosoonless
