OBITUARY
D’Antonio, Anthony James, 88, of Wayne, PA passed away from cancer on April 14, 2021 in the comfort of his family home in Villanova, PA. Anthony, also known to friends and family as “AJ” and “Tony,” is survived by his beloved wife Dolly D’Antonio, children Gerry D’Antonio (Olga) and Tina DeAngelis (Dominick), and by his grandchildren Nick, Kelsey, Sam, Jessie, Tyler, Sasha, and Ivan. Anthony was born on July 7, 1932 in Bryn Mawr,... see moreD’Antonio, Anthony James, 88, of Wayne, PA passed away from cancer on April 14, 2021 in the comfort of his family home in Villanova, PA. Anthony, also known to friends and family as “AJ” and “Tony,” is survived by his beloved wife Dolly D’Antonio, children Gerry D’Antonio (Olga) and Tina DeAngelis (Dominick), and by his grandchildren Nick, Kelsey, Sam, Jessie, Tyler, Sasha, and Ivan. Anthony was born on July 7, 1932 in Bryn Mawr, PA to the late Rinaldo and Marie D’Antonio of Wayne, PA and graduated from Radnor High School. After serving in the U.S. Army in Austria during the Korean War, he went on to operate a successful excavating and paving business serving the Main Line area and vicinity. Except for occasional trips to Florida and New Jersey shore points, Anthony generally spent his adult life within a short radius of Wayne where he developed an encyclopedic knowledge of the area’s people and history. In addition to babysitting his grandchildren during his retirement years (which included watching TV shows such as “Little Bear”, eating peanut butter bananas, and going to the Philadelphia Zoo), Anthony enjoyed nature and being outside; he was fortunate to have a lifestyle and line of work that permitted him to be outdoors throughout his life. Anthony was also a proud member of the Italian American Club (IAC) in Wayne, PA, an avid Eagles fan, and enjoyed going to the Haverford Art School. Anyone who knew Anthony recognized him by his incredible smile, sparkling blue eyes and his love of dogs. He was a self-taught artist with expertise in oil painting and sketching. Many of his friends and family have his paintings hanging in their homes. Though professionally successful, Anthony measured his wealth not in terms of dollars, but in terms of the number of friends and family he had, of which there were many, and with whom he greatly enjoyed chatting, joking, and having coffee with whenever he could. Services and internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends who wish to honor his life donate to the American Cancer Society:
