Alice Christine Rasnake Wenger of Douglasville, Georgia, went to be with her Savior and Lord on Sunday morning, August 9, 2020.

Alice was the oldest daughter of the late Alice and Herbert Rasnake, Sr.. She was born on Christmas day in 1936 at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. What a great Christmas present she was!

Alice married Lawrence Edward “Larry” Wenger on June 25, 1972 at Moreland Avenue Baptist Church. They were inseparable throughout their forty-eight years of marriage. They have one daughter, Laura. She frequently said that "God only gave us one child but He gave us the good one!"

Laura is married to Jim Brown of Conyers, Georgia and they have two children, Jacob and Jessica. Alice is also survived by her sister, Beverly (Bill) Gwynn, her brother, Don (Debbie) Rasnake, and her sister-in-laws Judy Rasnake and Nina (Carl) Gaines, and brother-in-law, Marvin Wenger.  Additionally, she is survived by twelve nieces and nephews; twenty-six great-nieces and nephews; five great-great nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
  
She was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert Spencer Rasnake, Jr.; sister, Annette Hunter Rasnake Harris; brother-in-law, William Ben Harris; and great niece, Riley Alexis Gilbert.

Alice graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the Georgia State College of Business Administration. She enjoyed a 30 year career with AT&T and retired on August 29, 1985.

She was a loving soul and was most passionate about her family! Alice loved and was devoted to her grandchildren! Frequently she was known to share their numerous successes with others out of her great pride and love for them. Grandma never missed an event for either Jacob or Jess. Once she even pushed to be released from the hospital so she could attend one of Jacob's events. She succeeded and was discharged the day before. She was a very determined lady!

Alice and Larry have devoted their lives to the service of God. She was a deacon's wife and served on the Baptistry Committee at First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs. Later, as members of First Baptist Church of Douglasville, they belong to the Son Risers Sunday School class and the Keenagers Club (their senior adult group at the church). Her service also included her own unique ministry of making custom and personalized greeting cards. She shared her encouragement and well wishes to almost everyone she met. And she was famous for sending her annual Christmas cards each year in early fall! 

Alice loved travel, watching the television show Gomer Pyle, researching family history and music. She even played the piano. She frequently traveled with her mother and father to exciting destinations around the world before she married. Family vacations and trips were always great fun. Later, she frequently accompanied Laura on business trips and these were always special times for them.  

In her early years, she used her creativity to make exquisite Christmas ornaments and created beautiful pieces of embroidery. Her retirement afforded her the luxury of spending lots of time with her grandchildren and weekly visits to Laura's work to have lunch with her. Often her sister Beverly, her brother Don and his wife Debbie, and sister-in-law Judy would accompany her on these outings.

Alice Christine shared the love of God freely. Those who knew her will most likely recall her saying “God loves you and so do I!”  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her!
