Alan Erwin Bell, 80, of California City, California, passed away in his home on March 9, 2021, in the company of family.
Alan was born to Elizabeth and George Bell, Jr. on December 29, 1940, in Mt. Royal, New Jersey. He is survived by his partner Sally Raycraft Bell, sons Derek and Alexander Bell, extended family, and many dear friends.
In many ways, Alan was the "Old California" not many people had the privilege to know. He was a man who dared to dream big and always had a story to tell, punctuated by his quick wit and bold sense of humor. His love for the desert and passion for motorsport made him a fixture at AVE Racing, where he helped organize many events over the years. He was a dedicated member of his community, and while he and Sally spent years traveling the globe, they always found their way back to Cal City.
Alan passed his enthusiasm for cooking to his son, Alex, and he will be remembered for making “the best homemade spaghetti sauce ever.” His presence will be greatly missed by many.
A joint memorial service for Alan Bell and Sally Raycraft Bell will be held at the Community Church of California City, 21001 Conklin Blvd, California City, on Monday, May 17 at 6:00 pm.
