Here is Tarlach, back in the 1980s, when the Boston Currach Club said to a reporter from the Boston Herald, what they had said to us, "Keep the N***ers in New York." Thanks to Mayor Flynn, we went, we raced and Tarlach was halfway around the course in this heat, when the Boston boat grabbed the gunnels of his boat and tried to capsize it. He told them, with a few expletives to get their hands off his boat. When the boys from Connemara heard his Belfast accent, they immediately let go. I was latter accused by them of "putting the IRA in one of our boats. Just one of the many courageous moments Tarlach was there in the lead.
